Audi marks the start of the world’s most famous ski weekend for the 72nd time
- Singer Aloe Blacc delights the audience with a live performance at the hotel “Zur Tenne”

It is the highlight of the winter sports season: every year, ski lovers and celebrities journey to Kitzbühel to watch the legendary Hahnenkamm ski race on the “Streif”. Outstanding athletic performances and a fantastic atmosphere send the town into a flurry of activity. The traditional “Audi Night” has become an integral part of the festivities. On Friday evening the automobile manufacturer once again invited guests to the hotel “Zur Tenne”.
Event hosts Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, and Peter Schwarzenbauer, Head of Marketing and Sales, welcomed visitors including Professor Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, and Ferdinand Piëch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, and actors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Moritz Bleibtreu and Thomas Heinze, presenters Kai Pflaume and Karen Webb, and former athletes including Hermann Maier, Martina Ertl-Renz as well as Felix Neureuther, winner of the 2010 Hahnenkamm slalom race.
In addition to many celebrities, Kitzbühel had an automotive world premiere to offer this year as well. The Audi A1 quattro was presented in public for the first time – in a prominent position on the red carpet in front of the “Zur Tenne” hotel. The top model in the A1 series will be on the market starting in mid-2012 – but only in a limited edition of 333 vehicles, all in “Glacier White”. With its 2.0 TFSI engine, the A1 quattro delivers 256 hp (188 kW) and accelerates from a complete standstill to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The stroll down the red carpet was followed by dinner in the “Zur Tenne” hotel, where gourmet chef Jürgen Bartl prepared a delicious meal for the approximately 400 guests. The event was led by presenter and former professional skier Marco Büchel.
Among others, Büchel welcomed the previous year’s Downhill winner Didier Cuche, who gave a detailed account of his personal experience and the race against time on the legendary “Streif”, no doubt the most spectacular ski slope in the world. Singer Aloe Blacc made a surprise guest appearance and of course sang his song I Need a Dollar. In the best party atmosphere, celebrations went on until late in the night.
