Aston Martin has intensified its presence at the pinnacle of motorsport as the new Vantage S joins Formula 1® as an Official FIA Safety Car. Making its debut at this weekend’s FORMULA 1® Heineken Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the Vantage S represents the most performance-focused evolution of the iconic sports car yet. It will share duties with the Aston Martin DBX707, which continues as the Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1®.
Powered by a hand-built 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8, the Vantage S delivers 680PS and 800Nm of torque, launching from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 202mph. Tailored for its new role, the car features aerodynamic enhancements including a full-width rear deck spoiler for increased stability, alongside FIA-specific equipment such as the lightbar for maximum visibility during deployments.

Alex Long, Global Marketing Director at Aston Martin, commented:
“Vantage S represents the peak of performance for the model that is the beating heart of the Aston Martin brand. With increased power and even greater dynamic prowess, this car was destined to take on the prestigious role as an F1® Safety Car. It will be a source of pride for our colleagues and customers alike to see it leading the pack whenever it is called upon.”
Visually, the Vantage S is distinguished by new centrally-mounted bonnet blades designed to improve airflow from the hot-V engine configuration, while its revised aerodynamic balance ensures razor-sharp turn-in and high levels of cornering grip. For FIA Safety Car driver Bernd Mayländer, this precision is critical:
“The Vantage S showcases a significant leap in performance capability. It allows me to respond quickly and safely when called upon, and I’m thrilled to experience the world’s greatest circuits in the most performance-focused Vantage to date.”
Finished in Aston Martin’s signature Podium Green, mirroring the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team race cars, the Vantage S brings a new level of drama and intensity to the grid. With the DBX707 maintaining its role as the FIA Medical Car, Aston Martin’s presence in Formula 1® continues to highlight the brand’s commitment to performance, innovation, and safety.
Safety, it seems, has never looked – or sounded – so exhilarating.
