From the legacy of ‘S’-badged icons, a new flagship emerges—blending ferocity, finesse, and a redefined vision of the performance SUV.

Gaydon, 30 April 2025 – Aston Martin has unveiled its most powerful and advanced SUV to date: the DBX S. As the new halo model in the DBX range, the DBX S doesn’t merely evolve the dynamic legacy established by the DBX707—it reimagines it. With 727PS under the bonnet, sculpted bodywork rich in motorsport cues, and a meticulously reworked chassis and drivetrain, the DBX S is the most sporting, dynamically focused, and luxurious SUV Aston Martin has ever produced.

Engineering Fury, Sculpted Elegance

At its heart lies a revised 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, drawing on turbocharger technology developed for the forthcoming Valhalla supercar. Now delivering 727PS and 900Nm of torque, the DBX S accelerates from 0–62mph in just 3.3 seconds, shaving precious tenths off its already blistering predecessor. With power distributed via a recalibrated 9-speed wet-clutch gearbox, the DBX S brings crisper shifts, fiercer downshifts, and heightened engagement—particularly in Sport and Sport+ modes.

Yet, raw power is only part of the story. Aston Martin has engineered meaningful weight reductions, offering up to 47kg of mass savings when fully specified with new lightweight options. Chief among them is a stunning single-weave carbon fibre roof, not only saving 18kg but significantly lowering the centre of gravity to enhance agility and stability. Optional magnesium wheels—a first for any SUV—reduce unsprung mass by a further 19kg, sharpening steering response and ride quality alike.

Form that Follows Ferocity

Visually, the DBX S doesn’t whisper its performance—it declares it. A new black vaned grille adds drama to the front fascia, while available options like the polycarbonate honeycomb grille and carbon-fibre splitter pay homage to icons like the DBS 770 Ultimate. Revised sills, a resculpted diffuser, and a distinctive quad-exhaust layout—now vertically stacked—mark this as something altogether more aggressive. The rear is further defined by a bold new lower livery available in striking tones like Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, and Podium Green.

Side profiles reveal purposeful aerodynamics, from upturned air splitters in the sills to optional carbon finishes on wing mirrors, side strakes, and lower door sills. Even the solid metal ‘S’ badging on the front fenders nods to the car’s lineage, echoing performance variants like the V12 Vantage S and Rapide S.

Aston Martin Dbx S A Thunderous New Chapter In Ultra Luxury Suv Performance

Craftsmanship Reimagined

Step inside and the DBX S’s interior tells a story of both speed and sophistication. A bespoke herringbone seat design—expanding as it rises up the seat back—evokes motion, while premium Alcantara adorns much of the cabin, seamlessly blending with semi-aniline leather in areas of high wear. An all-leather interior is available for those who favour a more traditional luxury feel.

Touches of Aston Martin’s artisan craftsmanship abound. The ‘S’ is embroidered into the seats, echoed in the treadplates and engine plaque, while the iconic Aston Martin wings are embossed into the headrests using a precision stamping technique with heat and pressure to achieve sub-millimetre fidelity.

Technology takes a confident stride forward, too. The DBX S adopts Aston Martin’s bespoke in-house infotainment system, offering a cleaner interface and enhanced connected car technology within a redesigned digital cockpit. A 14-speaker 800W Aston Martin Premium Audio system comes standard, with the option to upgrade to a specially engineered Bowers & Wilkins system, ensuring the soundtrack of your journey is as powerful as the one under the bonnet.

Dynamics Without Compromise

Underpinning the visceral driving experience is a suite of carefully tuned mechanical and electronic enhancements. The steering ratio is now four percent quicker, delivering more immediate feedback without sacrificing composure. Suspension upgrades—including recalibrated air springs and dampers—offer a near-flat cornering posture, with electronic roll control limiting body roll to just 1.5 degrees. Massive carbon ceramic brakes (420mm front, 390mm rear) provide the stopping power worthy of such speed.

Even the drivetrain’s torque distribution is enhanced for agility and control, capable of shifting up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels, or 50% to the front when conditions demand.

The Spirit of ‘S’

The DBX S continues Aston Martin’s proud ‘S’ tradition—one that began with the 1953 DB3S and was reignited in the modern era with the Vanquish S of 2004. Like its predecessors, the DBX S is not simply a trim level; it’s a philosophy—a fusion of heightened performance, reduced weight, and design distinction. It stands as a clear signal of Aston Martin’s ambitions—not just for its SUV range, but for the brand’s future.

As CEO Adrian Hallmark puts it:

“The introduction of DBX S not only reaffirms our commitment to producing the most exciting, rewarding and beautiful cars, it also sends a powerful statement of intent about our ambitions—not just for DBX, but for the Aston Martin brand.”

With the DBX S, Aston Martin has achieved something rare in the world of ultra-luxury SUVs: a harmonious blend of staggering performance, dramatic styling, and hand-crafted luxury that captures the brand’s heritage while propelling it firmly into the future.
