AMSTERDAM, May 28, 2025 – Global automotive powerhouse Stellantis N.V. has announced the appointment of Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking the beginning of a transformative era for the multinational company. The decision, unanimously endorsed by the Board of Directors, follows an exhaustive internal and external search led by a Special Committee chaired by Executive Chairman John Elkann.
Filosa, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Americas and Chief Quality Officer, will officially assume CEO powers on June 23. The Company has also confirmed plans to convene an Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting in the coming days to formalise his appointment as an executive director.
A Veteran Leader for a Defining Moment
With over 25 years in the automotive industry, Antonio Filosa brings to the role a breadth of global experience and a proven track record of steering complex organisations through transformation and growth. His deep familiarity with Stellantis—gained from senior roles across North and South America—and his dynamic leadership style made him a natural and compelling choice.
During his tenure as COO of South America, Filosa propelled FIAT to the number one market position and significantly expanded the presence of Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep®. Under his guidance, Stellantis solidified its leadership across the region, while his oversight of the Pernambuco plant—now a major automotive hub—was instrumental in Jeep®’s remarkable rise in Brazil, which has since become the brand’s largest market outside the United States.
As Jeep® CEO, Filosa further elevated the brand’s global profile. In Europe, models like the Jeep Avenger became category-defining successes. Most recently, as COO of the Americas, he initiated strategic reforms in the United States, slashing bloated dealer inventories, restructuring leadership, reenergising product pipelines, and deepening engagement with dealers, unions, and suppliers.

Endorsements from the Highest Levels
John Elkann, who will continue as Executive Chairman, expressed his full support for Filosa’s appointment. “Antonio’s deep understanding of our Company, including its people who he views as our core strength, and of our industry equip him perfectly for the role of Chief Executive Officer in this next and crucial phase of Stellantis’ development,” said Elkann. “His strong and effective leadership during unprecedented challenges has confirmed the excellent qualities he brings to the role.”
Echoing this sentiment, Stellantis Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot remarked, “His track record of successful leadership during his many years with our Company speaks for itself… [he is] the natural choice to become Stellantis’ next CEO.”
Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance and a prominent voice in European industry, added: “At a moment of transformation for the global automotive industry, Antonio Filosa has the knowledge, the experience, and the talent to lead Stellantis to new successes.”
A Vision for the Future
Filosa’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for Stellantis and the industry at large. As consumer expectations evolve and the transition to electrification accelerates, his leadership will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of a changing global landscape.
“It is my great honor to be named the CEO of this fantastic Company,” said Filosa. “We have the world’s best and most iconic brands in automotive history and an over 100-year heritage of innovation. That legacy, combined with our relentless dedication to giving our customers the products and services they love, will continue to be key to our success.”
Filosa is expected to unveil a refreshed Stellantis leadership team upon officially stepping into the role in June, signalling a new strategic direction that builds on the company’s storied past while driving boldly toward the future.
