The British Farming Awards 2024 witnessed a heartfelt celebration of farming excellence on the evening of October 17, with Andy Lambert of Hellifield Highland Fold taking home the prestigious Farm Worker of the Year Award. Lambert’s unwavering commitment to farming, coupled with his selfless dedication to both his own business and that of his neighbours, earned him the accolade at a ceremony that highlighted the importance of hard work and passion within the agricultural community.

Lambert’s contributions were especially recognised for his work alongside Robert and Wendy Phillip at the Hellifield Highland Fold, where he has worked diligently to maintain and develop not only his own farm but also the surrounding farming businesses. Known within the industry for “living and breathing farming life,” Lambert’s efforts have made him a true role model in the agricultural sector. His exemplary dedication to his work, coupled with his willingness to support others, left a lasting impression on the judges, earning him the title of Farm Worker of the Year.

Isuzu UK has sponsored this prestigious award since 2018, demonstrating the company’s long-standing commitment to celebrating the hard work and devotion of farmers. The Isuzu D-Max, known for its rugged capability, particularly its 1-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity, continues to be the vehicle of choice for many farmers across the UK, embodying the values of reliability and durability that are synonymous with farming life.

Lyndsay Moore, Event & Sales Co-Ordinator at Agriconnect, praised the evening as a fantastic opportunity to showcase the achievements and resilience of British farmers. “It was a fantastic evening celebrating the best that British farming has to offer. The British Farming Awards are always a great occasion to showcase the incredible work and achievements in our industry. We would like to thank Isuzu UK for its continued support of the prestigious Farm Worker of the Year Award, which this year was deservedly won by Andy Lambert,” she said.

George Wallis, Head of Marketing at Isuzu UK, had the honour of presenting the award to Lambert during the event. “The British Farming Awards provide farmers with the recognition they absolutely deserve, and it was a privilege to announce the winner of this year’s Farm Worker of the Year Award. On behalf of Isuzu UK, we would like to congratulate Andy for his hard work, dedication, and success!” Wallis commented.

The evening was also marked by Isuzu’s generous charitable contribution, as the company donated £2,050 to the ‘My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’ charity auction. This significant donation will assist in funding vital research into effective treatments for motor neurone disease (MND). Paul Thompson, Director of Fundraising and Communications at the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, expressed gratitude for Isuzu’s support. “We would like to thank Isuzu UK for donating £2,050 to help combat motor neurone disease. The charity auction saw Isuzu generously bid for two tickets for any concert at bp pulse LIVE or the National Exhibition Centre,” he said.

The British Farming Awards, supported by Isuzu UK, continue to stand as a symbol of excellence in the agricultural sector, recognising individuals who contribute tirelessly to farming’s enduring legacy. Andy Lambert’s recognition as Farm Worker of the Year not only reflects his commitment to farming but also highlights the power of community spirit within the industry.
