In a bold stride toward sustainable logistics, Amazon has placed its largest-ever order for electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs), selecting over 200 units of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. This historic collaboration also marks the largest e-truck order in the history of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, with more than 140 of these cutting-edge vehicles destined for Amazon’s UK operations and the remainder assigned to Germany.
The deployment of these eActros 600 trucks is expected to revolutionize Amazon’s middle-mile transportation network, significantly advancing the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Pioneering the Future of Green Logistics
The eActros 600 is designed to redefine heavy-duty transportation with its impressive capabilities. Boasting a range of 310 miles (500 kilometers) on a full charge, the truck integrates a high-capacity 600 kWh battery and an innovative electric drive axle. Charging from 20% to 80% takes just over an hour at Amazon’s planned 360 kW fast-charging stations, making it a practical solution for long-haul logistics.
Amazon anticipates these vehicles will handle the transport of over 300 million packages annually in the UK alone, eliminating exhaust emissions while covering high-mileage routes to and from its fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations.
Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, emphasized the significance of this milestone:
“This order underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe. It is an important step as we work to achieve our Climate Pledge commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions across our operations by 2040.”

Proven Excellence and Industry Recognition
Before finalizing the order, Amazon rigorously tested a prototype eActros 600 at one of its logistics centers in Germany, affirming the truck’s ability to meet the company’s demanding operational requirements. The eActros 600 has also demonstrated its performance under real-world conditions, including a grueling 15,000-kilometer journey across 22 countries as part of the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024.”
Accolades further validate its industry-leading status: the eActros 600 was recently crowned “International Truck of the Year 2025,” a testament to its groundbreaking design and sustainability credentials.
Strategic Collaboration for a Greener Future
This landmark partnership builds on a history of collaboration between Amazon and Daimler Truck, which began with the deployment of Fuso eCanter trucks in 2021. Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited, highlighted the importance of the partnership:
“This order of more than 140 eActros 600 for the UK signifies Amazon’s understanding of the role these trucks will play as they drive toward their net-zero carbon emissions targets.”
Karin Rådström, Chairwoman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG, echoed this sentiment:
“We are very pleased that Amazon, a pioneer in the transformation towards alternative drives, has chosen the eActros 600, a gamechanger for sustainable transportation.”
The Road Ahead
The eActros 600 is poised to become a cornerstone of Amazon’s green logistics strategy. Its advanced technology, proven performance, and compatibility with fast-charging infrastructure will allow Amazon to scale its sustainable transport network efficiently.
As the trucks begin operations in 2025, they will not only transport goods but also set a benchmark for what sustainable logistics can achieve. With this landmark order, Amazon and Mercedes-Benz Trucks are demonstrating how innovation and collaboration can pave the way to a greener, more sustainable future.
