Alpine A110 Pikes Peak Finishes Fourth in Goodwood Festival of Speed Timed Shootout, Climbing the Hill in 48.61 Seconds
The Alpine A110 Pikes Peak delivered an electrifying performance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, securing a remarkable fourth place in the Timed Shootout. The car, masterfully driven by Raphaël Astier, navigated the 1.16-mile hillclimb in an impressive 48.61 seconds.
Astier, who had previously driven the A110 Pikes Peak to a third-place finish at Pikes Peak in 2023, showcased the car’s exceptional capabilities at Goodwood. The aerodynamically optimized A110, weighing just 950 kg and powered by a nearly 500 bhp engine, demonstrated its agility and power, outpacing many more powerful competitors in challenging qualifying conditions. With a qualifying time of 48.1 seconds, it secured the sixth position for the final Timed Shootout, where the top 30 entrants vied for supremacy on Super Sunday.

Astier’s relentless push throughout the four-day event culminated in a fitting climax for Alpine. The A110 Pikes Peak was not only the fastest Alpine car on the hill but also shared the spotlight with the UK dynamic debut of the A290, Alpine’s all-electric urban sports car. Fresh from its world premiere at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the striking 220 bhp A290 hot hatch impressed as part of the ‘First Glance’ feature.
Visitors to Alpine’s stand were treated to an exclusive preview of the Alpenglow concept, a vision for high-performance hydrogen-powered motoring, featuring a lightweight carbon body. The Alpenglow joined the A290 in the ‘First Glance’ feature, along with the 1975 A110 Group 4 Tour de Corse rally car and the limited edition A110 R Le Mans.
The motorsport theme continued with displays of the BWT Alpine F1 Team showcar, the 1970s twin-turbocharged V6 RS10 F1 car, and the radical V6-powered A442B endurance racer. Representing Alpine’s roadgoing success, several A110 variants, including the A110 S, A110 GT, A110 R, and A110 Enstone, participated in the manufacturer parade.
Adding to the excitement, Alpine provided attendees with an exclusive preview of its forthcoming Atelier Alpine personalization program, which aims to make the acclaimed A110 even more unique.
Nic Burnside, MD of Alpine Cars UK, commented, “To see and hear the A110 Pikes Peak storm to such a strong finish was a fitting climax to an exhilarating four days for Alpine. During the Festival of Speed, we were able to give thousands of visitors an incredible insight into our past, present, and future, impressing existing fans of the brand and attracting the admiration of a whole new generation of performance enthusiasts through the 100% electric A290.”
