Automobili Pininfarina has long been synonymous with design excellence, blending heritage and innovation in the world of hypercars. At this year’s Monterey Car Week, the revered Italian marque paid homage to its roots with the unveiling of a bespoke Battista hyper GT, a creation that serves as a tribute to Cambiano, the small Italian town where the brand’s legendary atelier is located.

The bespoke Battista, aptly named ‘A Piece of Cambiano in California,’ is more than just a car—it’s a moving tribute to the birthplace of Pininfarina’s automotive masterpieces. The vehicle’s unique exterior livery tells a story, incorporating a discrete map of the Cambiano region and a schematic of the brand’s atelier, where each car is painstakingly hand-crafted to reflect the personality of its owner. This level of personalisation is at the core of Pininfarina’s ethos, and nowhere is it more evident than in this one-of-a-kind Battista.

The bespoke Battista is the third of three new vehicles unveiled by Automobili Pininfarina at Monterey Car Week, following the world premieres of the Battista Targamerica and the B95 Gotham—a hyper barchetta inspired by Bruce Wayne. The event was a fitting stage for the debut of such an exceptional vehicle, underlining Pininfarina’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive design and personalisation.

Several design elements of this unique Battista are directly linked to Cambiano, the town on the outskirts of Turin that has been home to Pininfarina’s atelier for decades. The livery on the underside of the active rear wing is a standout feature, blending a map of the Cambiano region with a stylised schematic of the Battista production line. This intricate design is echoed on the bespoke door plates, which bear the engravings “Where Everything Starts” and “Fatto Con Amore in Italia” (Made with Love in Italy), encapsulating the spirit of Cambiano that is infused into every Pininfarina vehicle.

Further enhancing the personalisation of this Battista, the client chose a unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that ends in 020, a reference to the Cambiano postal district of 10020. This bespoke approach to personalisation is part of Pininfarina’s comprehensive program, allowing clients to select a significant number or date to be integrated into their vehicle, making each car as unique as its owner.

Inside, the car’s two seats feature a monochrome ‘dogtooth’ design, a pattern that first appeared on the B95 barchetta showcar unveiled at the previous year’s Monterey Car Week. This is the first time this design has been used on a production vehicle, adding another layer of exclusivity to this already extraordinary hypercar.

Dave Amantea, Chief Design Officer at Automobili Pininfarina, expressed the deep connection between this bespoke Battista and the brand’s home: “With its unique and intimate connection to Cambiano, this Battista holds a truly special place in the heart of everyone at Automobili Pininfarina. We have lovingly curated a car that proudly displays the unmatched sophistication and finesse of our design heritage that stretches back almost 95 years. This unique livery celebrates the talent and dedication of our designers, engineers, and artisans, who work in Cambiano to pursue our brand vision: Dream Cars, Made Real.”

After its reveal at Monterey Car Week, the bespoke Battista made its way to Automobili Pininfarina Newport Beach, the brand’s California retail partner. There, it joined other Battistas for a special celebration of Italy’s most powerful road-legal hypercar. Ultimately, this unique creation will become a cherished addition to the private collection of a discerning car connoisseur.

Monterey Car Week 2024 was a milestone event for Automobili Pininfarina, marking the fifth consecutive year of the brand’s presence at this prestigious gathering. The event highlighted the brand’s continuous evolution, showcasing the world’s first coach-built electric hypercar, the Battista Targamerica, and introducing a new audience to the thrill of Pininfarina’s hypercars through the B95 Gotham collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery.

Paolo Dellachà, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, summed up the brand’s successful participation in Monterey Car Week: “This year’s Monterey Car Week has been a great success for our brand. It’s the fifth time we have attended, and this year we continued our tradition of bringing something new and thrilling for the world to see, to illustrate how we are redefining client expectations of what ultra-luxury performance cars should be.”

The bespoke Battista showcased at Monterey Car Week stands as a testament to Automobili Pininfarina’s dedication to craftsmanship, personalisation, and innovation—a moving tribute to Cambiano and a celebration of the brand’s enduring legacy.
