The Cape 1000, South Africa’s most captivating and exhilarating driving event, is set to dazzle automotive enthusiasts once again from March 16 to 21, 2025. Now in its fourth edition, this prestigious rally promises a blend of breathtaking landscapes, thrilling competition, and unparalleled camaraderie.
A Journey Through the Western Cape
The 2025 edition of The Cape 1000 will embark from the iconic V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, setting the stage for a remarkable journey through some of the Western Cape’s most picturesque locations. Participants will enjoy scenic pit stops in Hermanus and Franschhoek before returning to the vibrant heart of Cape Town. Each year, the rally’s routes are carefully curated to showcase different facets of this stunning region, ensuring a fresh and exhilarating experience for returning and new participants alike.
New Partnerships and Classic Elegance
In an exciting development, the 2025 rally will feature a new partnership with Scuderia South Africa, the Official Ferrari Dealer. This collaboration will see Ferrari entering four cars, ranging from their latest modern sports vehicles to cherished classic models. This addition underscores The Cape 1000’s reputation as a celebration of automotive excellence and innovation.
“The Cape 1000 has quickly earned its place as South Africa’s most beautiful drive,” says Vanessa Crichton, Event Director. “We’re thrilled to return for the fourth time and look forward to welcoming participants from around the world. The event has truly become an international sensation.”

A Unique Competition
The Cape 1000, first launched in 2022, is a regularity car rally inspired by legendary global tribute races. It features four distinct categories: Pre-1976 (Classic), 1977-1996 (Modern Classic), 1997-current (Sports), and Restomod/Recreation. This diverse classification allows a wide range of vehicles to compete, making each year’s rally unique and inclusive.
Next year’s rally will place a greater emphasis on competitive driving, in addition to its celebrated grand touring segments. The four-day event will traverse through scenic routes in Hermanus, Franschhoek, and Ceres, culminating back at the V&A Waterfront.
Support for a Worthy Cause
The Cape 1000 also supports noble causes. Beneficiaries include the Motorsport Legends Benevolent Fund, which provides emergency financial relief to motorsport figures in need, and the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA), a leading organization supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries and physical disabilities.
Jean Minnaar, Managing Director of Private Clients by Old Mutual Wealth, highlights the event’s alignment with values of exceptional craftsmanship and innovation. “The Cape 1000 celebrates these principles and brings together bespoke collectors from around the world to our beautiful country.”
