Visitors to the UK’s largest annual B2B low carbon vehicle event for manufacturers, technology providers and fleet operators – Cenex’s LCV2012 – will have a rare opportunity to see one of the world’s fastest electric cars in action: the 850 bhp Lola-Drayson B12/69EV.

The demonstration of the Le Mans Prototype-style racer at LCV2012 is part of a new collaboration between Cenex and the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) whose Honorary President, Lord Drayson, is also Managing Partner at the Drayson Racing Technologies team.

The two organisations will co-present the showcase seminar, ‘High Performance, Low Carbon’, on the first day, Wednesday 5 September, of LCV2012.

The session will highlight the role companies within the sector can play to accelerate the transfer of low carbon technologies from motorsport into passenger and commercial vehicles, as an important stepping stone in driving down the carbon footprint of vehicles on UK roads.

Speakers in the session include Jon Hilton, Managing Director of Flybrid Automotive Ltd, Angus Lyon, Chief Engineer from Drayson Racing, and George Lendrum, Managing Director of RML Group.

Cenex Chief Executive Officer, Robert Evans commented: “Cenex is very pleased to be collaborating with the Motorsport Industry Association to present the ‘High Performance, Low Carbon’ seminar at this year’s LCV2012 event.  The MIA plays a key role in promoting the rapid transfer of technologies from motorsport to the mainstream.

“The UK motorsport industry provides a hugely valuable test bed for a wide range of low carbon vehicle technologies.  It is not only highly demanding, but is quick to generate results which filter down into passenger vehicles.  There are many examples of companies from the UK low carbon vehicle supply chain working in the motorsports sector, and the ‘High Performance, Low Carbon’ seminar will showcase the potential of these projects.”

The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) is the world’s leading trade association for the motorsport, performance engineering, services and tuning sectors, and represents the specialised needs of this highly successful global industry.

Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA added: .“The ‘ High Performance, Low Carbon’ theme to our collaboration with LCV2012 is an excellent chance for MIA members to explain the outstanding success achieved, recently, by transferring low carbon, energy efficient technology from the racetrack to automotive.  The efficient use of energy has been at the heart of engineering success in motorsport for over 100 years.  At last, this unique pool of knowledge and expertise is being fully exploited, and delivering business growth to all concerned.  I am delighted LCV2012 is helping to promote the world class, low carbon technology available from the UK’s high performance engineering and motorsport sector of Motorsport valley UK.”

LCV2012 is the fifth annual B2B low carbon vehicle event, returning to Millbrook for the fourth time.  Last year, LCV2011 attracted more than 2,300 delegates from the low carbon vehicle sector (up 32 per cent on 2010) and 110 exhibitors, including high-profile vehicle manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Nissan and General Motors, as well as a host of technology and infrastructure suppliers.

LCV2012 is held in partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Technology Strategy Board, UK Trade and Investment, the SMMT, Automotive Council and the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles.
