Antananarivo, Madagascar, September 25, 2023 – Ford employees, through MATERAUTO, the official representative of the brand in Madagascar, are participating in Global Caring Month, Ford Motor Company’s community service initiative that takes place throughout the month of September.
Ford and Ford Fund, with a contribution of $10,000 and in partnership with Tibu Africa, are launching Global Caring Month 2023 in Madagascar and are committed to supporting communities. This year’s program benefits disadvantaged youth aged 7 to 14 and their families. From September 14 to September 30, 2023, Tibu Africa, with the support of Ford, is implementing a series of specially designed activities to improve the quality of life and future prospects of these young individuals. This initiative reflects Ford’s commitment to transforming lives through education, fostering creativity and innovation, and promoting positive social values.
In preparation for Global Caring Month 2023 in September, Ford employees are designing, planning, and coordinating community service projects that address the needs of the communities where they live. Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, provides grants to nonprofit organizations identified by employees to support the purchase of tools and supplies needed to complete the project.
Previous projects have included the construction of houses, school renovations, park clean-ups, the installation of clean water systems, the distribution of fresh food, and much more. This year, Ford has granted over $830,000 to 85 nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations selected by employees in 31 countries worldwide as part of this annual initiative.

“The Global Caring Month provides employees with meaningful ways to contribute to community empowerment and make a positive impact on people’s lives,” says Achraf El Boustani, General Manager of Ford North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. “Our long-standing partnership with Tibu Africa is the cornerstone of our commitment to these initiatives. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with this partner who shares our vision of community improvement. This long-term collaboration allows us to work hand in hand with local stakeholders to bring about lasting change. For our employees and partners, this means an opportunity to actively engage and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on the lives of fellow citizens. We firmly believe that these joint efforts not only strengthen our communities but also our business by reinforcing our connection to the values and needs of our neighbors.”
Frederic Schaffner, CEO of MaterAuto, stated, “Humility, Integrity, Creativity, Solidarity are the values of Materauto, and this support from Ford and Ford Fund to Tibu Africa confirms the alignment of the manufacturer’s values with those of Materauto, proud to be associated with this action.”
“Tibu Africa is honored to work in partnership with Ford to organize Global Caring Month. Our goal is to provide quality education and enriching activities to youth and their families. By focusing on areas such as robotics, coding, sports activities, art, leadership workshops, and foreign languages, we aim to develop the Soft Skills necessary to succeed in a constantly changing world. In total, this humanitarian project will strive to reach 500 direct beneficiaries. We firmly believe that education through sports is the key to unlocking the potential of every individual,” says Mohamed Amine Zariat, Ashoka Fellow and President of the NGO Tibu Africa.
Global Caring Month is a flagship program of the Ford Volunteer Corps. Managed by Ford Fund, the Ford Volunteer Corps is a global network of thousands of Ford employees and retirees who have accumulated over 1.7 million volunteer hours on six continents since 2005.
