Volvo is once again a proud vehicle sponsor of the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted at the spectacular Gary Player Golf course at Sun City from 1 to 4 December.
VCSA has a long tradition of sponsoring one of the holes by putting a car up for grabs. In 2009 Retief Goosen famously won a Volvo S80 by making an eagle on the 17th.
The 17th on the Gary Player Golf course at Sun City is notoriously tricky and Goosen’s eagle was only the second ever in the history of this prestigious tournament.
This year VCSA will have the gorgeous Volvo C70 up for grabs.

Volvo’s sponsorship covers the golfing spectrum and includes sponsorship of the Volvo World Golf Challenge, Volvo World Match Play Championship and the Volvo China Open. Volvo is also the sponsor of the Volvo Order of Merit, the PGA European Tour money list and whichever golfer wins the Volvo Order of Merit each year can rightly call himself the best in Europe.
Since 1988, Volvo has been at the heart of the burgeoning success story that has been the PGA European Tour and amongst those great champions to have held one of the fine Volvo titles are Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Padraig Harrington, Seve Ballesteros, José Maria Olazábal and, arguably the champion of champions over the era, Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie who famously won seven-in-a-row Volvo Order of Merit crowns and shared the Volvo Masters Andalucia title in 2002 with another great Volvo master, Germany’s Bernhard Langer.
Volvo Golf Champions – Fancourt, January 2012
The European Tour’s first-ever true ‘tournament of champions’ event will take place on South Africa’s number-one golf course, The Links at Fancourt, from 19th – 22nd January,
with the prospect of the finest field ever assembled for a European Tour event on African soil chasing the €350,000 (Approx US$500,000) first prize. With a prize fund of €2million (Approx.US$2,700,000) the Volvo Golf Champions is the first solelysanctioned European Tour event of 2012 and offers the circuit’s most valuable purse on the African continent.
The Volvo Golf Champions is open only to European Tour players who have won an event on the previous year’s European Tour International Schedule and current Tour Members with ten or more European Tour wins to their name. With prize money and valuable Official World Ranking Points on offer from first to last place, an unprecedented gathering of global golfing talent is expected to line up at the world-acclaimed Links at Fancourt, recently voted number one course in the country and designed by South African golf legend Gary Player.
