Johannesburg, November 2024 – Audi has introduced an upgraded version of its flagship SUV, the Q7, in South Africa, capturing the essence of luxury, versatility, and technology. This latest model in the Q7 line emphasizes sophisticated design improvements, advanced digital lighting, and a more dynamic powertrain to enhance its appeal among SUV enthusiasts. Sporting a refreshed exterior, new lighting customizations, and powerful engines, the Q7 sets a new benchmark for performance SUVs.

A Refined, Distinctive Design
Audi’s visual language is clearly represented in the updated Q7, which features an enhanced front and rear aesthetic. The redesigned front section incorporates an upright Singleframe grille with a bold octagon pattern, now paired with vertical inlays that set the Q7 apart from the A models. The interplay between the grille and the raised headlights gives the SUV a commanding presence, while the new prominent air intakes add a touch of sporty aggression. Combined with newly available wheels, colors, and trims, these elements give the Q7 a distinctive and elevated look.

The Q7’s sophisticated lighting system is now fully customizable, thanks to advanced digital lighting technology. The SUV’s new HD Matrix LED headlights, featuring Audi’s precision laser light, are equipped with four selectable daytime running light signatures that lend the vehicle an unmistakable presence on the road. In the rear, digital OLED taillights with various customizable light signatures enhance the Q7’s visibility and appeal, while proximity indicators add a layer of safety by activating when another vehicle approaches within two meters.

A Legacy of Innovation: From Concept to Icon
The Audi Q7’s journey to prominence began as the Audi Pikes Peak quattro concept at the 2003 North American International Auto Show. Conceived as a versatile SUV that could handle both urban roads and moderate off-road conditions, the Q7 debuted in production form at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, celebrating 25 years of Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. It has since evolved into an all-purpose, high-prestige vehicle known for its versatility, performance, and luxury. With each iteration, the Q7 has reinforced Audi’s dedication to premium design and technological innovation in the SUV segment.

Strength and Elegance in the Exterior Design
With the second-generation Q7 launching in 2015, Audi introduced all-wheel steering for enhanced maneuverability. Now, with this comprehensive 2024 upgrade, the Q7 gains an even more streamlined appearance, defined by minimalist lines and clean surfaces. The extended wheelbase and short overhangs give the Q7 a powerful stance, and the new colors and wheel options enhance its aesthetic versatility.

The vehicle’s front-end architecture has been reimagined, with the higher placement of the daytime running lights creating a broader, more expressive appearance. Meanwhile, the Q7’s rear is distinguished by digital OLED lights that dynamically respond to approaching vehicles, providing an additional layer of safety.

Superior Lighting Technology
High-performance lighting has always been central to the Q7’s identity, and the 2024 model is no exception. Standard Matrix LED headlights illuminate the road ahead, while optional HD Matrix LED headlights with laser light further enhance visibility. The laser light, activated at speeds over 70 km/h, significantly extends the range of the high beams, with a distinctive blue ambient light that symbolizes Audi’s commitment to laser precision. This lighting system, alongside the four selectable light signatures, allows Q7 owners to tailor their vehicle’s appearance to their style preferences.

The advanced rear lights also feature dynamic turn signals and unique coming and leaving home light sequences, synchronized with each light signature, enhancing the Q7’s visual identity.

Performance and Stability: Audi’s Signature Drive
Audi’s commitment to driving excellence shines through in the Q7’s meticulously engineered suspension system. The 2024 Q7 features adaptive air suspension as standard, allowing drivers to adjust ride height by up to 90 mm for an adaptable and safe driving experience across varied terrain. The system lowers automatically by 30 mm on highways for enhanced aerodynamics, while the “Lift” function raises the Q7 by 60 mm for better ground clearance on rugged roads.

All-wheel steering is standard on the SQ7 TFSI, providing improved agility in tight spaces and stability at high speeds. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels, reducing the turning radius by one meter for improved maneuverability.

Unveiling The New Audi Q7 Enhanced Performance Design And Technology

Powertrain Options: From Efficient to Exhilarating
The Audi Q7 range begins with the 55 TFSI, powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine delivering 250 kW and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a swift 0-100 km/h time of just 5.6 seconds. This model’s impressive top speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h, offering a balanced blend of efficiency and performance.

For those seeking a more exhilarating experience, the SQ7 TFSI comes equipped with a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine that produces 373 kW and an impressive 770 Nm of torque. The eight-speed tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive system allow the SQ7 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, with a maximum speed limited to 250 km/h. This powerful V8, with its distinct firing order, offers a deeply resonant and sporty sound, underscoring the SQ7’s performance credentials.

Comfort and Spaciousness: The Interior
Inside, the Q7 and SQ7 TFSI prioritize luxury and practicality. Both the five- and seven-seat configurations offer ample space, making the Q7 a perfect companion for families or executives needing extra room. With rear seats folded, the luggage capacity in the five-seater version expands from 867 liters to an impressive 1,993 liters, catering to a variety of storage needs. An electrically powered tailgate enhances convenience for loading and unloading.

Market Availability and Pricing
The new Audi Q7 is now available in South Africa, with the 55 TFSI offered in Platinum and Black Edition trims, starting at R1,958,000 and R1,987,900, respectively. The SQ7, available in Black Edition with additional black styling elements, will be released in January 2025. Both models come with a comprehensive 5-year/100,000 km Audi Freeway Plan, covering service and maintenance.

With its bold design, cutting-edge lighting technology, customizable features, and powerful engine options, the new Audi Q7 redefines luxury SUVs. This latest upgrade solidifies the Q7’s position as one of the most versatile and technologically advanced SUVs on the market, continuing Audi’s legacy of delivering performance, sophistication, and safety for South African drivers.
