The all-new electric Nissan MICRA has become even more appealing to UK buyers after a key update to its battery supply unlocked the full £3,750 government incentive. Thanks to a new Europe-sourced battery, the extended-range MICRA 52kWh now qualifies for the maximum UK Electric Car Grant, improving its affordability and strengthening Nissan’s push to make electric mobility more accessible.
The longer-range MICRA 52kWh is now priced from £23,245 including the £3,750 incentive, positioning it as a compelling option in the rapidly expanding electric city car segment. Production of the new model takes place at the ElectriCity hub in northern France, one of Europe’s major centres for electric vehicle manufacturing. With first UK customer deliveries scheduled for April, Nissan has confirmed that both existing and future orders for the 52kWh variant will benefit from the full grant.
Entry into the range begins with the MICRA 40kWh, which remains eligible for the lower £1,500 Electric Car Grant. This version starts from £21,495 including the incentive and offers a WLTP driving range of up to 196 miles on a single charge. The 52kWh model extends that range to as much as 257 miles, providing additional flexibility for drivers who need extra distance between charging stops while still maintaining the compact practicality that has defined the MICRA nameplate for decades.
According to James Taylor, the change in battery sourcing ensures stronger value for customers looking to transition to electric vehicles. He noted that the longer-range MICRA 52kWh now qualifies for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant, helping deliver greater value while reinforcing Nissan’s commitment to making electric cars accessible and exciting for a wider audience. Taylor also highlighted that both of the company’s major UK launches this year now benefit from the maximum EV incentive, alongside the latest generation of the Nissan LEAF.
Nissan GB has also revised its Personal Contract Purchase offers for the MICRA, introducing lower monthly payments across the range. Based on a 48-month agreement with 6,000 miles per year and a £1,500 customer deposit, the 40kWh Engage model is available from £293 per month, while the Advance grade starts from £311 per month. For the 52kWh models, monthly payments begin at £333 for the Advance grade and rise to £372 for the range-topping Evolve specification.
Now in its sixth generation, the MICRA remains one of Nissan’s most recognisable and successful models, with more than six million units sold worldwide. The latest version marks a decisive shift toward full electrification while retaining the core qualities that have long made the car popular in urban environments: compact dimensions, everyday usability and competitive running costs.
Beyond its electric drivetrain, the new MICRA introduces a suite of modern technologies aimed at enhancing connectivity and convenience. These include Google Built-in integration and access to the NissanConnect Services app, giving drivers seamless control over navigation, entertainment and vehicle functions through both the infotainment system and their smartphones.
With improved pricing, longer range and enhanced finance offers, the arrival of the fully electric MICRA signals Nissan’s continued momentum in the affordable EV space. As the first customer deliveries begin in the coming weeks, the model is set to play a key role in helping more drivers make the transition to zero-emission motoring.
