Chery has added a significant achievement to its rapidly expanding global portfolio with the Tiggo 7 CSH securing a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in October. The latest accolade underscores the brand’s commitment to developing vehicles that prioritise real-world protection for families, commuters, and vulnerable road users. Strong individual scores across all four of Euro NCAP’s key assessment categories—Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assist—demonstrate not only engineering strength, but a balanced, all-round approach to safety.
At the core of the Tiggo 7 CSH’s 82% Adult Occupant Protection score is its advanced structural design. Chery’s “cage-type space capsule” body architecture has been engineered to limit deformation even during severe impacts, and more than 60% of its structure is made from high-strength steel. Critical load-bearing zones, such as the A- and B-pillars, utilise 1500MPa hot-formed steel to manage crash energy effectively. In demanding side-impact trials, the passenger cell maintained its integrity, preserving survival space for front occupants and offering the reassurance modern families expect from a vehicle in this segment.
Safety for younger passengers was treated with equal priority. The Tiggo 7 CSH achieved an 85% Child Occupant Protection rating, reflecting Chery’s focus on child-specific engineering. i-Size-compatible anchor points provide improved compatibility and installation stability for modern child restraints, while the crash tests showed near-perfect protection for the six-year-old and 10-year-old child dummies. Whether navigating school traffic or loading up for a long-distance family trip, the vehicle offers consistent, reliable safety for its youngest travellers.
Protection outside the vehicle is just as critical, especially in busy urban environments where pedestrians, cyclists, schoolchildren and elderly road users share the road closely with traffic. The Tiggo 7 CSH earned an 80% Vulnerable Road User Protection score, supported in part by its precise Automatic Emergency Braking system. This technology identifies potential collisions and intervenes when necessary, helping the driver respond faster in complex and unpredictable environments.

Highway and intercity trips benefit from the Tiggo 7 CSH’s comprehensive Safety Assist technologies, which secured a 78% rating. Working almost like a digital co-pilot, the advanced driver assistance suite includes lane-keeping support, speed assistance features, and a fatigue-monitoring system that uses eye-tracking to spot signs of distraction or drowsiness. When these cues are detected, the vehicle issues alerts to guide the driver back to a safer state of focus. Combined, these technologies balance convenience with heightened protection, reducing fatigue on long journeys and boosting confidence behind the wheel.
“South African buyers are increasingly looking for vehicles that offer the right mix of affordability, technology and safety,” said Refiloe Mokoena, Product Manager at Chery South Africa. “The Tiggo 7 CSH’s Euro NCAP rating speaks directly to those priorities. It also brings strong hybrid performance and efficiency to the segment, delivering 265 kW, up to 90 km of electric-only driving, and notably low fuel consumption from 4.9 L/100 km. For many families, that combination adds real value to everyday use.”
The Tiggo 7 CSH’s five-star Euro NCAP rating places it among the most comprehensively protected vehicles in its class, and its mix of advanced engineering, thoughtful occupant-focused design, and intelligent driver assistance systems reinforces Chery’s growing presence in global safety rankings. For South African motorists prioritising a vehicle that harmonises performance, technology and peace of mind, the Tiggo 7 CSH presents an increasingly compelling case.
