Chery South Africa hosted an elegant gala event in Sandton on Friday, 24 May, gathering dealers, business partners, and key customers to celebrate an exceptional year of record-breaking achievements and to honor the top-performing dealers in its network.
During the event, Chery expressed gratitude to its largest customers and business partners, recognizing their significant contributions to the brand’s success. “It is hard to believe that we have only been in South Africa since the fourth quarter of 2021,” remarked Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Chery South Africa.
“Since then, Chery has rapidly ascended to become one of the top ten best-selling vehicle brands in South Africa. Our models, particularly the Tiggo 4 Pro, frequently rank among the top three best-selling passenger cars. This remarkable growth is a testament to our loyal customers and dedicated dealers.”
Since the launch of its first model in October 2021, Chery has expanded its dealer network to over 86 branches, each representing entrepreneurs and dealer groups committed to the Chery brand. These dealers serve as vital touchpoints for Chery customers across the country.
“Rapid growth can pose challenges, particularly in maintaining high standards of customer service and after-sales support,” Botes continued. “However, with our dealer partners, we have managed to uphold industry-leading levels of customer satisfaction, even as we’ve expanded our parts warehouse and vehicle stock multiple times.”
At the gala event, dealers shared stories of customers returning to purchase second or third Chery vehicles or upgrading their initial purchases to larger models. Chery also presented resale data highlighting the strong market value of models like the Tiggo 4 Pro, underscoring the brand’s reputation for quality and durability.
“Our 10-year or 1-million-kilometre engine warranty has been instrumental in establishing Chery’s reputation for reliability,” Botes added. “Our dealers’ dedication to supporting this warranty and ensuring customer satisfaction has been equally crucial.”
Among the award recipients, ten dealers were distinguished for their outstanding performance in Sales, Aftersales, or Parts support throughout 2023.

In the Best Overall Parts Support category, Chery Umhlanga won for Large and Extra-Large Dealers, Chery Krugersdorp for Medium Dealers, and Chery Germiston for Small and Extra-Small Dealers. Chery Sandton was awarded Best After-sales Dealer for Large and Extra-large Dealers, followed by Chery Midrand for Medium Dealers and Chery Trichardt for Small and Extra-Small Dealers.
Chery also recognized top sales performers: Chery Phalaborwa as Best Extra-Small Dealer, Chery Trichardt as Best Small Dealer, and Chery Vanderbijlpark as Best Medium Dealer. In the large categories, Chery Pinetown and Chery Pretoria won for Best Sales Performance among Large and Extra-Large Dealers, respectively.
“Many award-winning dealers joined us in Beijing for the Auto Beijing Show and our global dealer conference, where we shared our vision for the future and reinforced our commitment to their success,” Botes concluded. “We are inspired by our dealers’ dedication to our ‘With Chery With Love’ ethos, which encourages supporting local communities and sharing a passion for Chery.”
