Johannesburg, South Africa, 29 August 2025 – BAIC South Africa made a strong impression at this year’s Festival of Motoring with the highly anticipated unveiling of the all-new BAIC B30 SUV. The reveal took place on media day, Thursday, 28 August, giving journalists and industry insiders the very first glimpse of BAIC’s latest midsize contender.
Over the course of the festival at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, South Africans had the opportunity to experience the B30 up close, exploring its bold design and advanced technology while enjoying a range of engaging brand activations.
A Festival Highlight
Positioned in the same league as the Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan, the new B30 immediately captured attention with its confident styling, generous ground clearance, and adaptable design—equally at home in city streets or on weekend escapes.
The B30 range will launch locally in four derivatives:
- Two powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 138kW.
- Two hybrid variants, combining the same petrol engine with electric motor assistance, with the range-topping AWD hybrid producing an impressive 301kW.
Pricing will start at approximately R550,000, with the flagship model expected around R700,000, making the B30 a highly competitive choice in the segment.
Inside, the cabin sets a new benchmark for sophistication in its class. A 14.6-inch infotainment display, fully digital instrument cluster, and advanced driver-assistance technologies headline the package, complemented by premium features such as dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and versatile flat-folding front seats.
“Festival of Motoring 2025 is about energy, excitement, and giving the public hands-on experiences. For BAIC, it was the perfect moment to reveal the B30 to South Africa and showcase what our brand represents today,” said Ameena Hassan, Brand & PR Manager at BAIC South Africa.

Interactive Experiences at Kyalami
BAIC’s presence at the festival extended far beyond the B30’s unveiling. On the 4×4 track, the rugged BAIC B40 Plus Honor Edition demonstrated its off-road prowess, while the stylish X55 Plus was available for dynamic test drives on the handling circuit.
At the BAIC stand, festival-goers crowded in to explore the B30’s interior, test its features, and engage with BAIC’s growing model line-up. With enthusiastic interest across all vehicles, BAIC’s stand became one of the most visited and talked-about attractions of the event.
Commitment to South Africa
The B30 is scheduled for its official market launch in November 2025, with local assembly at BAIC’s Coega facility in Gqeberha set to follow. This investment not only strengthens the brand’s presence in South Africa but also contributes to job creation and economic growth, underscoring BAIC’s long-term commitment to the region.
By expanding its SUV line-up and introducing a model as versatile and feature-rich as the B30, BAIC is reinforcing its position as a value-driven brand dedicated to meeting the needs of South African motorists.
The 2025 Festival of Motoring concluded on Sunday, 31 August, leaving behind a buzz of excitement for the months ahead. BAIC South Africa extends its gratitude to all attendees who visited the stand, experienced the all-new B30, and explored the brand’s dynamic portfolio first-hand.
