Today 1st May, 2013 is Labour Day in many countries around the world, and in some other countries Labour Day falls on the first Monday in September. Google rarely make mistakes with its Google Doodles and it was very interesting for me to learn that when you click on the Google Doodle for Labour Day Google say that it is on Monday, September 2, 2013. Just underneath the date it says Labour Day 2013.

Labour Day

Now I am not criticizing Google in anyway, I love their Google Doodles and you will see that we regularly post about the doodles on Car Site. We use the Google Doodles to provide some variety to our site that mostly covers automotive News from around the world.

Why did Google make the Labour Day 2013, 1 May mistake?

Google intensly make use of machine algorithms to classify information and to index search results in the search engines. The function that prints out that Labour Day 2013 is on Monday, September 2 is in fact not a mistake because in some countries Labour Day do fall on September 2, 2013 this year.

However the rich snipped which was created by the Algorithm and it guessed that “Labour Day 2013” is on Septemer 2, 2013 instead of the 1st of May 2013. It could be that there was more information about Labour Day in September than there were on Labour Day 1st May.

It could also be that the Google Algorithm picked up that most of the last mentions for Labour Day was in September last year, and guessed that the Labour Day is in September instead of May.

Whatever the mistake, if you are celebrating Labour Day Today, we hope you have a wonderful day!
