14 March 2024 – Kia’s ground-breaking all-electric, seven-seat EV9 continues its global awards spree in March with major wins two prominent competitions: the UK Car of the Year as well as the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year competitions.

Already a winner in the SUV category, the Kia EV9 has now also been declared the ‘World’s Best Car for 2024’ by an esteemed panel of judges at the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY). This year’s recognition for the EV9 follows the triumph of the Kia Niro last year, which was named the ‘World’s Best Car for 2023’ in the 2023 WWCOTY awards.

Following in-depth evaluations by 75 women motoring journalists from 52 countries across five continents, the Kia EV9 triumphed over 62 other contenders with its unparalleled versatility and exceptional ability to meet the diverse needs of consumers globally.

The judges praised the EV9 as a ground-breaking addition to the electric vehicle market, citing its affordability, user-friendliness and widespread appeal. Kia’s innovation in crafting a large SUV with outstanding aerodynamics and advanced technology, as well the SUV’s family-friendly interior and familiar driving experience, was commended. The versatility and performance of Kia’s flagship model, especially in challenging winter conditions, were highlighted, alongside its spacious interior and robust performance. In addition, Kia was lauded for delivering a future-proof, multi-purpose electric vehicle with exceptional energy efficiency.

Hot on the heels of the WWCOTY award, the EV9 was also named the UK’s Car of the Year 2024, as voted for by 30 of the UK’s top journalists in automotive, business and technology. In addition to winning the overall award, the EV9 also secured victory in the hard-fought ‘Large Crossover’ category.

The EV9 is also a top three finalist in the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle category of the 2024 World Car Awards that will be announced on March 27th, with all things set for the EV9 to follow in the footsteps of the Kia Telluride (2020) and the Kia EV6 GT (2023).
