Pretoria, 6 May 2010 – The Ranger Wildtrak brings added style and exclusivity to the already popular line-up of Ford Ranger models. The Wildtrak 3.0 TDCi Double Cab is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 guise with only 400 models being made available in the South African market.
“The Ranger Wildtrak offers trendy design traits and premium spec enhancements such as rear parking sensors and an Armadillo load box cover while still maintaining the existing strengths such as durability, economy, off road ability and safety that are prevalent throughout the Ford Ranger line-up,” says Ben Pillay, Ford Marketing Manager.
The 3.0-litre engine employs advanced turbo technology – intercooler and variable-geometry turbo charging – to reduce turbo lag and improve overall performance. Plenty of available torque from Ford’s TDCi Duratorq diesel makes it highly responsive to the driver’s needs and gives it plenty of grunt. The 115kW 3.0-litre engine delivers 380Nm peak torque at 1800rpm. At 3000rpm, the Ranger’s 3.0-litre TDCi diesel proves its flexibility in delivering more than 350Nm.
A number of stylish features give the limited edition Wildtrak its own unique identity. Wildtrak decals on the side front doors and tailgate offer the first indication of the vehicles unique identity. The doors and tailgate feature body colour cladding and a special body-coloured Wildtrak-design Sports Bar.
Turn indicators with puddle lamps underneath are incorporated in the side mirrors and parking sensors in the rear bumper create a premium feel while a lockable tailgate and a lockable Armadillo cover are both stylish and practical. A Multi Meter Set has also been added to the dashboard layout of the Ranger Wildtrak offering valuable information on the incline and decline angles as well as sideways tilt angles. The display also features a compass and readout of the ambient and outside temperatures.
The exterior theme is further enhanced with the addition of silver coloured roof rails, a Ford branded load liner box, Wildtrak themed load box edge rails and 18” diamond cut design alloy wheels.
The no nonsense Wildtrak attitude is seamlessly carried through to the interior styling. Alcantara leather seat and door trim is off set with brushed aluminium spear inserts. The Wildtrak logo is featured prominently throughout the cabin adorning the seat trim, the scuff plates and the carpet set.
The Ranger Wildtrak is available in a choice of four colours including Frozen White, Panther Black, Tango and Thunder Grey.
The Ranger has become known for its true off road capabilities, its 1.8 tonne towing capabilities and its payload, which is in excess of one tonne. Whether at work or at play the Ranger is perfectly equipped for the task.
All Ford Ranger models come with a 5 year/90 000km Service Plan and a comprehensive 4 year/120 000km warranty with service intervals of 10 000kms. Customers will also benefit with 3 years of Roadside Assistance and a 5 year corrosion warranty as part of the Ford Ranger package. The customer has the peace of mind to know that this capable vehicle is reliable with a low cost of ownership. Off road driver training through the Scorpion Off Road College is offered on all 4×4 derivatives.
