NASREC, Johannesburg – Chrysler South Africa and it’s aftersales parts and accessories division MOPAR have created a unique vehicle for the 2008 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS), the Dodge Caliber 2.0L CRD “High Output” R/T.
Combining the “Anything but cute” attitude of the standard Dodge Caliber with a body kit from MOPAR, reminiscent of the high performance SRT4, and a performance engine controller that enhances the already powerful 2.0l diesel powerplant, the High Output R/T is sure to turn heads at JIMS. What makes this vehicle unique is the fact that “diesel” and “performance” are words not usually associated with one-another in a traditionally petrol biased performance industry.
The Dodge Caliber “High Output” R/T is further modified with the fitment of MOPAR suspension springs that lower the vehicle’s ride height by 30mm, thereby enhancing cornering and straight-line stability of the already impressive Caliber.
The performance engine controller has been developed for Dodge by STARTECH in Germany. STARTECH is the performance arm of BRABUS, well-known for tweaking certain German high performance car brands and comes with a reputation second to none. The “chip” increases the engine’s power from 103kW to 132kW, an increase of over 20% as well as improving the torque from 310 Nm to 360 Nm, an increase of 14%. All this is achieved without compromising reliability
The Dodge Caliber 2.0L CRD “High Output” R/T will be available as a special build from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge dealers and the price is available upon request.
