Johannesburg, 29 October 2025 – Alfa Romeo takes a bold step into South Africa’s electrified future with the introduction of the all-new Alfa Romeo Junior, a premium compact EV that blends unmistakable Italian design with advanced electric technology. Following international launches that have garnered over 22,000 global orders and a 21% BEV share, the Junior arrives as a stylish, sporty, and sustainable choice for urban drivers.

Italian Design Meets Urban Agility

Measuring under 4.2 metres, the Alfa Romeo Junior embodies the brand’s signature design language. Its scudetto grille, trilobo front, and coda tronca tail deliver a harmonious balance of elegance and aerodynamic efficiency, while a laser-etched biscione emblem on the C-pillar bridges Alfa Romeo’s heritage with its electrified future. Whether navigating city streets or open highways, the Junior’s compact proportions and flowing lines make it instantly recognizable as a true Alfa Romeo.

Electrified Performance for Every Driver

The Junior will be available in two fully electric variants – Elettrica and Elettrica Veloce – each powered by a single front-wheel drive motor engineered to deliver efficiency without compromising agility.

  • Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica: 118 kW, 260 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 9 seconds, top speed of 152 km/h.
  • Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica Veloce: 207 kW, 345 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, top speed of 200 km/h.

Both variants feature Alfa Romeo’s most advanced driver-assistance systems, including Level 2 ADAS with lane centring, adaptive cruise control with stop & go, LED matrix headlights, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, and blind spot detection, ensuring both performance and safety.

Distinctive Trim, Premium Interiors

The Junior’s design extends inside with a driver-focused cockpit that pairs premium materials with modern technology. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, put control and connectivity at the driver’s fingertips.

Each trim delivers a unique expression of Alfa Romeo character:

  • Elettrica: 18-inch alloy wheels, Heritage front grille, blue-and-black ‘Icona’ seats, premium 6-speaker audio.
  • Elettrica Veloce: 20-inch alloy wheels, Progresso grille, black-and-red ‘Spiga’ seats, contrasting black roof, Veloce decals, red brake calipers.

Under the skin, the Junior’s chassis and powertrain are tuned for precise handling and responsive performance, informed by expertise from the Giulia GTA programme, reinforcing Alfa Romeo’s reputation for sporty, engaging driving dynamics.

A Global Sensation Comes to South Africa

The Alfa Romeo Junior has already made waves internationally, with significant interest in Europe and the Middle East. Following upcoming launches in Japan and Australia, South Africa joins the select markets welcoming this electrified icon.

Janus Janse van Rensburg, Alfa Romeo South Africa Brand Head, comments:
“The arrival of the Alfa Romeo Junior marks a historic moment for our brand in South Africa. For the first time, Alfa Romeo is introducing fully electric models to our market – a defining step in our journey toward electrified performance. The Junior combines over a century of Italian design and engineering excellence with advanced electric innovation. We’re confident it will resonate strongly with urban drivers who value style, performance, and individuality.”

The Alfa Romeo Junior will officially launch in South Africa on 29 October 2025, offering drivers a compact, stylish, and electrified alternative in the growing premium EV segment. With its combination of Italian elegance, spirited performance, and advanced technology, the Junior represents Alfa Romeo’s next chapter in urban mobility.
