was another bumper classic sale for Anglia Car Auctions on Sat 25th January, as the crowds continue to swell sale-on-sale with £890,930 of sales resulting in 81 per cent of cars being sold.

With over 20 project cars in the 166-lot line-up of ACA’s first classic sale of 2014, there was plenty to appeal to the pocket of those looking to put a marque on the road to recovery.

The 1909 Leon Bollee, which had been in storage since 1959 and was complete apart from the headlamps and radiator cap, was bought for £21,630 including premium.

A 1972 BMW 3.0CSL project car, partially prepared for competition with a triple carb conversion and full roll cage, saw the hammer down at £14,280 with premium, while the Alfasud race car was claimed for the bargain price of £2,205 with premium.

Dry garage stored since 1993, the 1947 Bentley MkVI Standard Steel, offered with no reserve, was sold at £9,712.50 including premium. Meanwhile the Bristol 403 restoration project, that offered the original engine, axle, gearbox, etc, was purchased for £7,140 including premium.

For those just wanting to drive a classic away, it was a very successful day as some stunning marques went to new homes including two Mercedes Pagodas.

Following ACA’s successful history with Pagoda sales, an immaculate 1968 Mercedes 280SL Automatic sold for £75,075 with premium with a left hand drive version, equally sought after, selling at £37,800 with premium.

As in previous sales, there was a fantastic selection of Minis, BMW, Morris Minors, Jaguars, Austins and Triumphs, with 132 of the lots available being sold.

The next Anglia Car Auctions Classic Car Sale is scheduled for Saturday 5th April 2014. Entries are now being accepted. Please call 01553 771881 or email at
