Five dealerships in the Volvo Car South Africa network were honoured last week for their outstanding performances in 2007 and the high level of service provided to customers and Volvo owners.

Mark Africa, Dealer Principal of Barloworld Motors in Gaborone, Botswana, received the Dealer of the Year award for 2007 for consistently high levels of customer service and sales performance.

The trophy for the Service Dealer of the Year 2007 was awarded to Denis Chapman, Dealer Principal of Eastern Cape Motors in Port Elizabeth, for the performance of his service department under leadership of Sanet van der Walt, service manager.

Robert Ferreira, Dealer Principal of AutoTec in Nelspruit, added the Sales Dealer of the Year trophy to his collection – this year for the high level of sales satisfaction and sales performance maintained by his sales department under leadership of Christo Leeuwner, Brand Manager at AutoTec.

Volvo Car SA’s Used Car Dealer of the Year for 2007 is Swedocar Menlyn in Pretoria where Org Robbertse, used car sales manager, and his team helped to deliver a high service level. Antwa Bell, Dealer Principal of Swedocar Menlyn, received the trophy.

The trophy for the Most Improved Dealership in 2007 went to Vereeniging where Hansie Roodt Motors, led by dealer principal Lou Roodt, showed the best overall improvement in sales and service satisfaction levels compared to the previous year.

The awards were handed over to the dealers by Alan Cousins, outgoing managing director of Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA), at a gala evening at the Riviera Hotel in Vereeniging. Cousins hands over the reins at Volvo Car SA this month to Bram van der Reep, who has moved from his position as sales director of Volvo Cars in the Netherlands to his new role as managing director of VCSA.

“I would like to compliment the Dealer of the Year Award winners and the runners-up of course,” said Van der Reep in a message to the VCSA dealer network. “What I really want is that all dealers give us an even harder time to conclude who the winners are. If we perform as a passionate, coherent team too, the team itself will become the winner.”
