Milton Keynes – Volkswagen is removing the hesitation often associated with first-time electric car ownership with the launch of its new ID. Promise — a simple, customer-centric initiative that gives retail buyers up to 100 days to decide whether an electric Volkswagen truly fits their lifestyle.

The offer, available from 3 November 2025 to 31 March 2026, applies to the full ID. lineup: ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer. In essence, it hands over the keys along with complete peace of mind.

A Safety Net for the EV-Curious

The transition to electric mobility is gathering momentum in the UK, with more than 1.3 million motorists already behind the wheel of an EV. According to Autotrader’s Road to 2030 Report, the overwhelming majority of those adopters are delighted with their choice — four in five say they’re likely to buy another EV next time around.

Yet Volkswagen recognises that many potential customers remain uncertain. Range, charging access and daily usability are still common sticking points for buyers considering their first electric vehicle. The ID. Promise directly addresses those concerns by offering an extended trial period with no pressure attached.

Buyers have 80 to 100 days from delivery to evaluate how an ID. model fits into their routines. If they decide the car isn’t right for them, they simply inform their retailer and return it for a refund. Volkswagen applies a three-per-cent fixed usage charge and deducts the cost of any repairs required for damage or modifications, but otherwise the process is designed to be transparent and hassle-free.

The offer is open to all retail customers, whether paying cash or financing their vehicle through a Volkswagen Financial Services PCP agreement. Motability, fleet, contract hire and ex-demo purchases fall outside the promotion. Full terms and conditions are available on Volkswagen.co.uk.

Volkswagen’s ID. Promise Gives New EV Drivers the Confidence to “Drive and Decide”

“No Strings Attached”

Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK, says the initiative is aimed squarely at helping cautious customers take the final step into electric mobility.

“Official figures show more than 1.3 million UK motorists have already converted to electric, and time and time again our customers tell us they would never go back to petrol or diesel having made the move. But there are many more people who want to go electric but feel unsure. This straightforward initiative gives them the perfect opportunity to ‘drive and decide’ with no strings attached.”

A Lineup Built on Award-Winning Assurance

The ID. family has already carved out a strong reputation for safety, efficiency and everyday practicality — key considerations for would-be EV buyers.

All ID. models have earned top-tier Euro NCAP safety ratings, placing them among the safest EVs on sale today. Industry recognition has followed:

  • The ID.3 has been celebrated as Best Family Car at the GQ Car Awards.
  • The sleek ID.7 achieved Best Saloon at the Autocar Awards.
  • The ID.4 secured global acclaim as World Car of the Year.

These accolades reflect Volkswagen’s broader strategy: mainstream electric mobility grounded in engineering excellence and customer confidence.

Encouraging the Next Wave of EV Drivers

With the UK’s transition to zero-emission transport accelerating — and public chargers, home-charging solutions and smart-energy tariffs becoming more accessible — Volkswagen’s ID. Promise arrives at exactly the right moment. It offers an approachable entry point for drivers who want to make the switch but need reassurance that an EV can seamlessly support their lifestyle.

By giving customers the freedom to truly live with an electric car before fully committing, Volkswagen is helping expand EV adoption in a way that’s both bold and refreshingly uncomplicated. The message is clear: try it, explore it, and decide in your own time.
