This year marks the 40th anniversary of Volkswagen Group’s presence in China, and they are commemorating this milestone with an extraordinary display at Auto China 2024. The event showcases a robust lineup of 44 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles across its prestigious brands, highlighting six world premieres and five China premieres.

The Beijing Auto Show serves as a platform for Volkswagen to demonstrate its commitment to the Chinese market, embodying their “In China, for China” philosophy. Noteworthy launches include the Audi Q6 L e-tron and a new bespoke version of the Porsche Taycan, designed specifically for Chinese consumers. Additionally, Volkswagen is set to unveil a concept car exclusive to the Chinese market.

The majority of the 11 premieres at the show are electric vehicles (EVs), signaling Volkswagen Group’s shift towards electrification. Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group, expressed the company’s dedication to China, stating, “Volkswagen Group is accelerating its innovation pace in partnership with Chinese firms to maintain its lead as the top international automaker in China.”

Ralf Brandstätter, a top executive at Volkswagen, emphasized the focus on electrification and the introduction of models tailored for Chinese consumers, which are part of the strategy to reinforce Volkswagen’s market position by appealing to new consumer demographics with cutting-edge technology.

The exhibition features a mix of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) models, with a spotlight on intelligent, connected vehicles suited to the preferences of Chinese customers. The event highlights include the debut of a new member of Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. family, which will be produced locally, and the introduction of advanced ICE models that incorporate the latest in efficiency and digital technology.

Luxury and performance brands under the Volkswagen umbrella, such as Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini, are also presenting significant updates. Audi is showcasing several new battery electric vehicles (BEVs), Porsche is unveiling a new Taycan variant optimized for the Chinese market, and Bentley will display its latest Mulliner coachbuilt model, the Bentley Batur. Additionally, Ducati introduces the Diavel for Bentley, blending high performance with distinctive style.

As Volkswagen Group continues to build on its strong foundation in China, it underscores its extensive local manufacturing capabilities and partnerships, which have been crucial to its success in one of the world’s most competitive automotive markets.
