Johannesburg – Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has once again shone a spotlight on the nation’s agricultural champions, celebrating excellence, resilience and innovation at its prestigious Farmer of the Year Awards Gala. The annual event recognises those who are not only feeding the nation but also redefining the future of sustainable farming across South Africa.

With agriculture forming a vital pillar of the country’s economy — ensuring food security, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs and contributing significantly to export earnings — Toyota’s partnership with Agri SA and Conservation SA reflects the brand’s longstanding commitment to uplifting the sector. Through the Young Farmer Awards, Toyota continues to honour farmers who push boundaries, foster community collaboration and embrace progressive agricultural practices.

The programme offers far more than accolades. Winners receive industry recognition, access to technical expertise and unique opportunities to share knowledge with peers, strengthening the broader agricultural community.

Recognising Excellence: The 2025 Award Winners

New Harvest of the Year 2025 – Rudzani Sadiki (Thabazimbi, Limpopo)
Honoured for his dynamic and diversified farming enterprise, Rudzani Sadiki impressed judges with a well-balanced operation spanning sunflower production, cattle, sheep and broilers. His ability to integrate modern techniques with sound management strategies has delivered consistent, high-quality yields and long-term sustainability. As part of his award, Rudzani drove home in a brand-new Toyota Hilux Single-Cab 2.4 GD-6 RB Raider 6MT — a fitting companion for a farmer dedicated to progress.

Young Farmer of the Year 2025 – Francois Rossouw
Having previously earned recognition as the Agri Western Cape Young Farmer of the Year, Francois Rossouw continues to stand out in South Africa’s viticulture sector. His innovative use of precision farming technologies is elevating table grape production, demonstrating how data-driven methods can transform both efficiency and crop quality. Francois’s forward-thinking approach positions him as a leader in sustainable grape cultivation.

Communal Farming Association of the Year 2025 – Iqhude Supply and Farming (Elim, Western Cape)
Iqhude Supply and Farming embodies the power of community-driven agriculture. With integrated operations spanning flower production, cattle and sheep, the association blends traditional communal knowledge with contemporary management practices. Their holistic approach has increased productivity while deepening social impact within their community — a model of shared success.

Toyota’s Continued Commitment to Agriculture

Reflecting on the achievements of this year’s winners, Leon Theron, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at TSAM, emphasised Toyota’s deep roots in the farming community:
“At Toyota, we understand that farming demands reliability, strength and versatility. We are therefore proud to be associated with the Young Farmer, New Harvest and Communal Farming Awards as they showcase the resilience and forward-thinking spirit of our agricultural community. Our support goes beyond the awards; we aim to play our part in building a stronger and more sustainable future for South African farming. The support is reciprocal as the farming community has supported Toyota for many decades. Congratulations to all the 2025 winners.”
