TORSUS Unveils New Third-Generation PRAETORIAN TG3 for 2024 with Over 50 Technical Enhancements

Prague, 11 June 2024: TORSUS, the renowned manufacturer of the world’s toughest heavy-duty off-road buses, has launched the third-generation PRAETORIAN TG3. Boasting more than 50 all-new technical updates and options, the 2024 PRAETORIAN TG3 is designed to conquer the harshest terrains and environments, providing unmatched performance and comfort for up to 35 passengers.

The PRAETORIAN TG3 is built on an upgraded MAN chassis and powertrain, ensuring global serviceability and warranty coverage by MAN suppliers. Its powerful 6-cylinder MAN diesel engine delivers an impressive 1,150Nm of torque, paired with a heavy-duty 4×4 off-road drivetrain and a 12-speed transmission, enabling the bus to effortlessly climb 65% inclines and ford 680mm deep rivers.

The state-of-the-art front and rear axle 19.5” disc brakes provide exceptional stopping power, while the new rear air suspension and bespoke chassis/superstructure mountings significantly enhance handling, usability, and comfort across any terrain and weather conditions. The redesigned cabin features a new dashboard, gear shifter, controls, buttons, and panels, along with upgraded heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, ensuring a comfortable ride for both the driver and passengers.

The PRAETORIAN TG3 is equipped with a new 12-tonne 30-meter front steel winch cable, allowing it to clear obstacles and traverse ultra-challenging terrain. Available in Shell, Transporter, and Minesite specifications, the new PRAETORIAN TG3 is priced from 225,831 EUR (GBP 192,112).

Torsus Unveils Third Generation Praeorian Tg3 The Ultimate Off Road Heavy Duty Bus

A Legacy of Toughness

The PRAETORIAN takes inspiration from the legendary Praetorian Guard, an elite unit of the Imperial Roman Army renowned for their superior combat skills and resilience. TORSUS designed the PRAETORIAN to embody this ethos, engineering the bus to perform in the most demanding environments and applications, from mining and rescue missions to defense operations.

The third-generation PRAETORIAN TG3 raises the bar even higher, incorporating advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to deliver unparalleled performance and durability. The 8.7-meter, polymer-bodied bus features an upgraded suspension system and chassis, providing greater agility and comfort.

Relentless Innovation

Vakhtang Dzhukashvili, Founder and CEO of TORSUS, emphasized the company’s commitment to continuous improvement: “At TORSUS, we push ourselves to innovate constantly. Our customers, who operate in the most challenging sectors worldwide, provide us with invaluable feedback that drives our advancements. This is evident in the next-generation PRAETORIAN TG3 and our smaller, more nimble TERRASTORM.”

Superior Engineering

One of the most significant upgrades in the new PRAETORIAN is the enhanced chassis and suspension system. The uprated silent blocks and new mounting points for the superstructure floor minimize road noise and vibration, providing a smoother ride. Additionally, the introduction of a front air suspension assembly and rear air suspension system improves comfort and agility, allowing drivers to fully utilize the powerful MAN diesel engine.

Exceptional Power and Control

The PRAETORIAN’s six-cylinder, 6.9-litre diesel engine delivers 1,150Nm of torque, distributed through a 12-speed MAN Tipmatic ZF AStronic transmission and a heavy-duty 4×4 drivetrain. Six selectable driving modes ensure optimal performance in any situation, from efficient highway driving to emergency response and challenging off-road conditions. The new 12-tonne front winch further enhances the bus’s capability to tackle obstacles.

Enhanced Comfort and Safety

The PRAETORIAN’s HVAC system has been upgraded for better performance, with improved heating and cooling efficiency. New air vents ensure uniform air distribution, and a Pioneer audio amplifier enhances sound quality. The redesigned driving environment includes a new dashboard, gear shifter, and controls, along with advanced safety features such as lane detection and light and rain sensors.

Ease of Maintenance

The redesigned front mask of the PRAETORIAN TG3 allows for easier service and maintenance access, with an increased opening height and repositioned windshield washer fluid tank. A double latching mechanism ensures the front mask remains securely closed, even in the toughest conditions.

Production of the third-generation PRAETORIAN TG3 is already underway, with the vehicle now in service in markets such as Spain, Germany, and Ukraine.
