ABSA National Off Road Championship
May, 2010 Pretoria – Team Ford Racing enjoyed a solid outing at this weekend’s Atlas Copco Sugarbelt 400. Local favourites Neil Woolridge and Kenny Skjoldhammer, in their Ford Racing Ranger TDCi, took fourth place, a solid point’s haul following their historic win at the previous event.
“We’re happy to have a solid finish after some challenges early in the day,” explains Neil. “We had a control valve issue in the first two loops which meant we suffered with poor low end performance. We managed to rectify the problem at the service point and after that we had a really good run.”
Lance Woolridge and Ward Huxtable in the Class E Ford Ranger demonstrated their intentions for a strong finish with a good showing in the prologue. They continued their battle on Saturday challenging Pikkie Labuschagne and Rikus Erasmus for top honours in the class. In the end they took second place, a great result for the young driver.
“We had a great weekend. The Sugarbelt is a home event for the team and it was great to have the support from our fans and repay them with a strong result,” commented Lance.
The team is looking forward to a lengthy break before the Sun City event, taking place in July.
“We have a long break now so we have another opportunity to focus on development. The cars have proved incredibly reliable so we can now focus on performance and getting the best out of the car before the next event,’ concluded Neil.
