Škoda Auto is propelling its motorsport involvement into a new era of sustainability with the introduction of the Enyaq RS Race concept. This groundbreaking initiative marks another stride in enhancing the brand’s emotional connection through advanced sustainable practices in motorsports. Revealed through initial sketches, the Enyaq RS Race draws from Škoda’s top-tier rallying expertise, particularly in aerodynamic innovation.
Set to redefine motorsport dynamics, the Enyaq RS Race concept serves as a crucial development platform for cutting-edge electric technologies intended for future electric production vehicles. This follows in the footsteps of other Škoda electric ventures such as the Vision GT and the all-electric Škoda Fabia RE-X.
Unveiled on 2 May 2024 in Mladá Boleslav, the concept study not only explores new sustainability avenues in motorsports but also amplifies the brand’s emotional resonance. Featuring an aggressive design complete with a substantial rear wing, the Enyaq RS Race is designed to escalate Škoda’s motorsport DNA by integrating motorsport technology to foster a dynamic and sustainable automotive future.
Michal Hrabánek, Head of Škoda Motorsport, emphasizes the brand’s sustainability focus, dating back to the 2021 electric rally car ventures with the Škoda Fabia RE-X1. These endeavors have significantly contributed to the development of the new Škoda Enyaq RS Race, demonstrating that motorsport remains integral to Škoda’s brand ethos while advancing future road model technologies.
Based on the Škoda Enyaq Coupé vRS, the all-wheel-drive Enyaq RS Race showcases the broad capabilities of the Volkswagen Group’s Modular electric drive matrix. Its standout design not only catches the eye but ensures stable handling and necessary downforce through its wide stance and prominent rear wing.
Senior Designer at Škoda Auto, Daniel Petr, notes that the Enyaq RS Race will transition from concept to reality, featuring a design that embodies a strong racing essence, with a focus on dynamics influenced by the current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable motorsport, Škoda continues to innovate with electric vehicles like the Fabia Rally2, which operates on 100% sustainable fossil-free fuel in the WRC2. This commitment serves as a testament to Škoda’s dedication to exploring the durability and efficiency of new electromobility solutions under the rigorous conditions of motorsport.
