Škoda Auto closed 2024 with remarkable achievements, showcasing a robust increase in production, a diversified model portfolio, and expanded global operations. The Czech automaker reported a 4.2% year-on-year production growth, manufacturing over 925,000 vehicles across its international facilities. In addition to cars, the company delivered impressive numbers in key automotive components, including over 280,000 battery systems, more than 1 million transmissions, and nearly 500,000 engines.

A Year of New Models and Innovation

In 2024, Škoda launched a record number of new and updated models, including the Scala, Kamiq, Octavia, Kodiaq, and the all-new compact SUV Kylaq. This diversified portfolio was bolstered by preparations for the highly anticipated all-electric Elroq, set to commence production in 2025.

“2024 was one of the most challenging yet rewarding years in Škoda Auto’s history. Launching a record number of vehicles while optimizing production and expanding globally has solidified our position as a leading global automaker.”

Czech Republic: The Heart of Škoda’s Production

The Czech facilities remain central to Škoda’s success, contributing significantly to its production milestones:

  • Mladá Boleslav Plant: Produced 575,000 vehicles (+3.4%) in 2024, including updated versions of the Fabia, Scala, Kamiq, and Octavia, alongside the electric Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé. The plant’s flexible production line, capable of manufacturing both ICE and electric vehicles, is a unique asset within the Volkswagen Group.
  • Kvasiny Plant: Celebrating 90 years of operation, this facility produced 248,000 vehicles, focusing on the new Kodiaq and Karoq generations, as well as the updated Octavia.

Strength in Component Manufacturing

Škoda Auto continues to be a cornerstone for component production within the Volkswagen Group:

  • Engines: Nearly 500,000 EA 211 engines produced, marking Škoda’s 125th year in engine development.
  • Battery Systems: 280,600 battery systems manufactured, including 227,000 for electric vehicles on the MEB platform. Škoda achieved a significant milestone of producing 1 million battery systems since 2019.
  • Transmissions: The Vrchlabí plant, renowned for its carbon-neutral operations, produced over 710,000 seven-speed DSG transmissions.

Global Footprint Expansion

Škoda Auto’s commitment to internationalisation was evident in 2024, with key advancements in India, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan:

  • India: Production of the new Kylaq compact SUV began at the Pune plant, marking Škoda’s entry into the sub-4-metre SUV segment. Production capacity was expanded by 30% to meet growing demand.
  • Vietnam: Intensive preparations were completed for assembling Slavia and Kushaq models from CKD kits, establishing Vietnam as a strategic hub for ASEAN markets.
  • Kazakhstan: Re-entering this market, Škoda began assembling Kodiaq, Octavia, and Karoq models from SKD kits, with plans to expand the model lineup in 2025.

Notable Achievements in Other Markets

Škoda strengthened its presence in other regions, including Slovakia, where the Bratislava plant produced 54,500 units of the new Superb. In China, Škoda manufactured 15,200 vehicles across three cities, while assembly operations in Ukraine continued with the Karoq SUV.
