Mladá Boleslav, 4 July 2025 – As the 112th Tour de France prepares to roll out from Lille, Škoda Auto celebrates a remarkable milestone: 130 years since its founding in 1895 as a humble bicycle manufacturer. Reinforcing its enduring connection to the world of cycling, the Czech automaker returns for its 22nd consecutive year as the official main partner of the world’s most prestigious cycling race, supplying a fully electrified fleet of up to 225 vehicles to support the event.

This year, Škoda’s involvement goes beyond logistics—it’s a symbolic convergence of heritage, innovation and sporting excellence. From providing crucial support vehicles and designing the race’s iconic trophies to engaging fans worldwide, the brand’s deep-rooted passion for cycling takes centre stage once again.

A Fully Electrified Fleet for the Tour’s 21 Stages

Škoda’s fleet for the 2025 Tour comprises only all-electric and plug-in hybrid models—demonstrating the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility on one of the most widely viewed sporting stages on the planet. Among the 225 vehicles, two of the most prominent are the new Škoda Enyaq and Škoda Superb iV, alternating as the official ‘Red Car’—the mobile command centre for Tour Director Christian Prudhomme. These vehicles are outfitted with advanced communication systems, allowing race organisers to track the peloton, relay critical updates and coordinate logistics in real-time.

The Tour de France will cover 3,339 km over 21 stages, crossing the Massif Central, Pyrenees, Alps—including the legendary Mont Ventoux—and Jura Mountains, before culminating with its traditional finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Crystal Trophies and the Iconic Green Jersey

For the 15th consecutive year, Škoda Design has created the elegant crystal trophies awarded to the race’s top performers. This year, each handcrafted trophy will feature a special emblem commemorating Škoda’s 130th anniversary. In addition to the overall winner’s prize, trophies will be awarded to the leaders of the points, mountain, and young rider classifications.

Škoda also remains the proud sponsor of the green jersey, worn by the leader of the points classification—one of the most coveted jerseys in professional cycling.

From Factory Floor to Fan Experience: Škoda Celebrates with the Public

Škoda’s presence at the Tour de France extends far beyond the road. Fans following the race—both on location and around the globe—can engage with exclusive content, competitions, and live updates through WeLoveCycling.com, Škoda’s digital cycling platform. A highlight of this year’s activation is a competition offering seven fans and their companions the chance to experience the final stage from inside official Škoda vehicles, including a once-in-a-lifetime ride around the Champs-Élysées alongside cycling legends.

Other prizes include official Škoda green jerseys and high-end racing bicycles. Enthusiasts can also meet Škoda ambassador and 2010 Tour de France winner Andy Schleck on a community ride, while spectators along the route can enjoy a coffee at the Škoda Coffee Car or collect gifts from the travelling promotional caravan.

New Faces and Familiar Traditions

This year’s Škoda showcase also includes two standout vehicles. The Elroq Respectline, an all-electric SUV concept championing diversity and inclusion, will be part of the Škoda caravan throughout the race. Also featured is the L&K 130, a creative build by students at the Škoda Auto Secondary Vocational School—further testament to the brand’s emphasis on education, heritage, and future-forward design.

A Legacy Rooted in Two Wheels

Škoda’s long-standing connection with cycling is more than symbolic—it’s foundational. The company’s origin story begins in 1895, when Václav Laurin and Václav Klement launched a bicycle workshop in Mladá Boleslav. That pioneering spirit lives on today, as the brand continues to champion the sport through partnerships with events like the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, La Vuelta, and L’Etape, as well as its recent role as official partner of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and UCI Gravel World Championships.

“Celebrating Our Past, Driving the Future”

Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Škoda Auto, summed up the brand’s enduring connection with the Tour:

“Škoda Auto is proud to mark 22 years as the main partner of the Tour de France. As we celebrate our 130th anniversary, our commitment to cycling is stronger than ever. We are looking forward to being part of one of the most watched sporting events on the planet, providing a modern fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to support this exciting race. Škoda is joining millions of fans along the route and an incredible three billion TV viewers to witness the riders’ outstanding performances.”

As the 112th Tour de France begins, Škoda Auto not only honours its heritage—it leads the way in demonstrating how tradition, innovation, and passion can ride side by side into a more sustainable future.
