Johannesburg, 17 October 2025 – What began as a bold, almost impossible idea in 2015 has grown into a decade-long journey of hope, compassion, and tangible impact for children battling cancer across Southern Africa. The Seven7 Drive for Kids with Cancer, a registered NPC dedicated to childhood cancer awareness and support, is preparing for its 10th Anniversary Edition, and this year, GWM South Africa steps in as the official vehicle partner.
The mission remains audacious: visit seven hospitals in seven days, across South Africa’s provinces, delivering supplies, spreading awareness, and educating medical staff about early detection and treatment of paediatric cancers. The journey kicks off from Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg on Sunday, 26 October 2025, and concludes at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Tshwane on 1 November, visiting key hospitals along the way.
“For many years, we delivered supplies and gifts to kids with cancer, and although this certainly brightened their day, we were always looking for a way to make a more tangible difference, and possibly even save lives,” says Danie Botha, co-founder and managing director of Seven7 Drive NPC. “Our focus shifted over time to maximise impact in South Africa first, and we have since turned the ‘drive’ into a registered NPC. We’re still dreaming up those big, audacious plans, but our vision has become clearer.”
Same Goal, New Partners
This year, GWM South Africa generously provides the recently launched P300 LS 4×4 bakkie for the trip, marking the second time the brand has partnered with Seven7 Drive. “At GWM, we believe that true strength lies not just in performance, but in purpose. Partnering with Seven7 Drive is deeply meaningful because it represents compassion in motion; a journey that uses hope, awareness, and connection to those who need it most,” says Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa.
The partnership is a continuation of GWM’s commitment to supporting childhood cancer initiatives. In October 2024, the brand aided a multibrand outreach to Polokwane in partnership with CANSA, transporting children from Polokwane Hospital to Adventures with Elephants near Bela-Bela in a GWM Tank 300 HEV.
“Seven7 Drive is honoured to have had a consistent vehicle partner since the very beginning,” adds Botha. “As we enter a new decade for the NPC, we look back with gratitude but also look to the future and the possibilities it holds. We are grateful to GWM for their support this year.”

A Bakkie for Every Battle
The GWM P300 LS embodies all the qualities South African bakkie drivers value: toughness, capacity, and style. Powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine with 135 kW of power and 480 Nm of torque, and paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the P300 LS 4×4 is ready to tackle steep climbs, heavy loads, and every terrain the Seven7 Drive may encounter. Its rugged chassis, double wishbone front suspension, leaf spring rigid rear axle, and electronic rear differential lock make it a reliable companion for a mission where nothing can be left to chance.
Priced at R579,900, the P300 LS comes with a seven-year, 200,000 km warranty, roadside assistance, and a seven-year service plan, making it as practical as it is capable.
Seven Days, Seven Hospitals
The 2025 Seven7 Drive continues its tried-and-tested approach, with a renewed focus on education and early detection. “In some instances, the mortality rate among kids with cancer is higher than 80%,” explains Botha. “This is an atrocious equation and can be significantly reduced through education and more awareness. Early diagnosis saves lives. Supplies and hope matter, but so does ensuring medical staff are equipped with the knowledge to make the right diagnosis, fast.”
From Johannesburg to Tshwane, across KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Limpopo, the Seven7 Drive remains more than a road trip—it is a lifeline, a rolling classroom, and a symbol of what determination and partnership can achieve.
As the 10th Anniversary Edition prepares to roll out, one thing is certain: Seven7 Drive continues to prove that audacious ideas, powered by compassion and the right wheels, can truly change lives.
