On October 6th, 2024, the award-winning REVS community will make a highly anticipated return to the Bicester Heritage Scramble, with a unique and inspiring display that celebrates not just bespoke cars, but also the intrinsic value of every individual. As part of this extraordinary event, REVS aims to highlight the parallels between the intricacies of custom-built vehicles and the uniqueness of people, with a powerful message centred on self-worth and mental well-being.
A Showcase of Bespoke Automotive Masterpieces
This year’s Scramble promises to be a feast for car enthusiasts, featuring an eclectic mix of bespoke vehicles that span generations and genres. REVS will present a carefully curated line-up of 14 cars, each offering a personal story through its craftsmanship, heritage, or design. These are not just cars; they are expressions of individuality, where the fusion of mechanical engineering and artistry creates something truly special.
Among the standout vehicles is a rare Ford Model T with custom coachwork by Ball and Co. of Birmingham, an exquisite example of early 20th-century British craftsmanship. Joining it is the Reavell Special, a one-off masterpiece recently acquired by the British Motor Museum, a tribute to British motoring innovation.
For motorsport aficionados, the presence of the Lister Maserati BHL 1 is an event in itself. This is one of the most original Listers in existence and one of the few remaining Works cars driven by the legendary Archie Scott-Brown. The car’s attendance is sure to draw enthusiasts keen to experience a piece of motorsport history up close.
REVS’ commitment to showcasing the bespoke doesn’t end with vintage gems. The lineup will also include cutting-edge designs, like the Bentley Batur by Mulliner, a one-of-a-kind commission for a special client that represents the pinnacle of luxury car craftsmanship. And in a nod to the future of British sports cars, Wells Motorcars will showcase its striking Vertige 2-door coupe, a modern example of bespoke design built for the driving purist.
Everyday Heroes and Cult Classics
In addition to the headline vehicles, REVS will highlight cars that offer something bespoke to a broader audience. A collection of Nissan’s cult B cars—including the quirky Figaro, Pau, and B—will be on display, each an embodiment of how individual styling can reach beyond high-end luxury and appeal to everyday drivers. The line-up also includes a Land Rover Defender, customized to reflect its owner’s active lifestyle, reminding visitors that bespoke can be as much about practicality as it is about aesthetics.
A Parallel Message: Celebrating the Value of People
While the cars will undoubtedly capture the attention of visitors, the REVS community is renowned for championing more than just automotive excellence. This year’s event carries an important message that transcends metal and mechanics: each person, like these bespoke cars, is ‘Marvellously Made’.
The ‘Marvellously Made’ campaign draws from ancient biblical teachings, which describe humanity as “fearfully and wonderfully made.” It’s a reminder that every person, regardless of their background or beliefs, has inherent value and worth. As many people in today’s society grapple with feelings of low self-esteem and diminished self-worth, REVS hopes to inspire a more positive self-image by encouraging attendees to see themselves as unique and valuable—just like the bespoke cars on display.
Visitors will be able to purchase ‘Marvellously Made’ car stickers on the day, a symbol that reinforces this message. By displaying these stickers in their vehicles, owners can contribute to spreading the positive ethos that REVS stands for. Attendees are also encouraged to share photos of themselves with their cars and stickers on REVS Limiter’s social media, further amplifying this message of self-worth and belonging.
Cars, Community, and Mental Health
REVS’ commitment to mental health awareness is as much a part of their identity as their love for cars. The Scramble is not just a celebration of automotive craftsmanship but also an opportunity to encourage dialogue around mental health. As REVS founder Adam Gompertz notes, “When so many struggle with a low sense of self-worth, this is a message that aims to encourage people to view themselves, and perhaps others, more positively.”
With the ‘Marvellously Made’ message at its core, this year’s Bicester Heritage Scramble will be a powerful reminder that we are all bespoke—of great value and worth. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, an advocate for mental health, or simply looking for a meaningful day out, REVS promises an unforgettable event that celebrates both the beauty of bespoke cars and the intrinsic value of every individual.
