Renault and its first two electric vehicles will be starring alongside the London Borough of Camden in a new promotional film highlighting the benefits of making the switch from fossil-fuels.
Residents and representatives from businesses and organisations are invited to test drive Renault’s 100 per cent electric vehicles, Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Van Z.E., around a picturesque Regent’s Park circuit on Friday 30 March.
The event is being sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and filmed by Green TV to champion the significant environmental benefits of electric motoring to members of the green conscious borough.
London Borough of Camden Sustainability Officer Katie Watson, who has organised the event, said: “This is a one-off promotional event to give everyone the opportunity to discover the benefits of electric vehicles for themselves. Many of those taking part will never have driven an electric vehicle and I am sure they will be impressed.
“As well as the significant financial savings on fuel costs, road tax and the London congestion charge (electric vehicles are exempt), those attending the event will also learn about all the environmental benefits. The event promises to send out a really positive message about the future of electric motoring and this will be captured in the short film.”
The Regent’s Park test drive circuit will start from outside The Garden Café and loop around the inner ring road. To be eligible to test drive the vehicles, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, interested participants need to:
■have had no motoring or other convictions in the last three years
■not have any pending prosecution or police enquiry
■never have had a motor insurance proposal declined or renewal refused
■have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months
■be aged 20 or over
