New vehicle retail sales for the month of November 2005, as reported to NAAMSA, came in at 50 565 units, which is 21.4 per cent over November 2004 and 117 units down on last month (October 2005). The passenger car industry increased 2.2 per cent over last month, while the LCV market decreased by 6.8 per cent.
“It is the first time ever that the annualised South African vehicle industry is over the half a million mark,” says Nigel Harris, Vice President – Marketing & Sales for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. “At 519 267 units YTD, the industry reflects strong growth of 25,5 per cent over the same period last year.
“YTD 2005 the passenger and LCV markets have grown in line with the industry at 25.0 per cent and 25.7 per cent respectively.
“We are delighted with the performances of the new Ford Ka. In its debut month Ka sold 917 units and has made the top ten of passenger car sales. Sales of Ford Fiesta, Bantam and Ranger YTD November, are all time sales records with a month of sales still left in 2005.” says Mr Harris.
