Iconic Golf GTI Offers 20 PS More Power Than Its Predecessor

Milton Keynes – Volkswagen enthusiasts in the UK are gearing up for the arrival of the new Golf GTI and Golf GTE, set to join the already acclaimed lineup featuring the Life, Match, Style, and R-Line models. Both the GTI and GTE versions promise to blend sporty performance with enhanced fuel efficiency, building on the legacy of their predecessors.

The Legend Reborn

The latest Golf GTI boasts a significant boost in power, delivering 265 PS – an increase of 20 PS compared to its predecessor. This power surge propels the GTI from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds, showcasing its dynamic capabilities. The model incorporates Volkswagen’s cutting-edge IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights with an impressive 500-meter range. Complementing these are redesigned LED tail lights and striking 18-inch Richmond alloy wheels, underlining the GTI’s unmistakable presence on the road.

Inside, the cabin is a blend of modern design and advanced technology. A 12.9-inch touchscreen, part of Volkswagen’s revamped infotainment system, takes center stage and can be operated via touch or voice commands using the latest Volkswagen IDA assistant, integrating ChatGPT for enhanced functionality. Premium sports seats adorned with the iconic GTI check pattern and highlighted by red stitching further accentuate the model’s sporty pedigree.

Standard features include a seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG) with paddle shifters on the multi-function steering wheel, responding to customer feedback for improved usability. Additional conveniences such as keyless access, heated front seats, three-zone Climatronic air conditioning, and advanced driver assistance systems like Lane Assist and Traffic Jam Assist ensure a comfortable and safe driving experience.

The Golf GTI will be available for order starting June 20 at an RRP of £38,900 (including VAT).

The Best of Both Worlds

Volkswagen’s new plug-in hybrids, the Golf eHybrids, cater to drivers seeking a blend of style, performance, and fuel efficiency. Available in two variants – the Style eHybrid and the sportier GTE – both models feature a new 1.5 TSI evo2 engine equipped with variable turbocharger geometry (VTG) and an efficient TSI-evo combustion process.

The Golf Style eHybrid, priced at £36,760, pairs electric power with a 204 PS engine and six-speed DSG transmission. It offers an electric-only range of 89 miles and includes luxurious features like three-zone Climatronic air conditioning and advanced safety systems.

For those craving more power, the Golf GTE boasts a robust 272 PS engine, the same six-speed DSG transmission, and an electric-only range of 82 miles. Priced at £39,750, it adds features such as keyless access, heated front seats, tinted rear glass, and cornering lights, making it a compelling choice for performance-oriented drivers.

Both models feature an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the front and benefit from improved charging capabilities, with the Style eHybrid supporting up to 11 kW AC charging and the GTE offering fast DC charging up to 40 kW. Company car drivers will appreciate the attractive Benefit in Kind (BiK) rate of just five percent, further enhancing the appeal of these eco-friendly models.

The Golf Style eHybrid and Golf GTE will be available for order from June 27, representing Volkswagen’s commitment to blending innovation, performance, and sustainability in its latest lineup.
