- Fiesta powertrains deliver exceptional power, superior fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.
- Three engines are available – 1.4-litre Duratec, 1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT and 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi.
- Available with new six-speed PowerShift transmission.
- Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) cuts fuel consumption.
The new Ford Fiesta models feature modern, fuel-efficient powertrains that deliver exceptional power, superior fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The standard Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system switches on only when needed, unlike traditional pumps that run constantly.
Duratec Ti-VCT engine
The 1.6 Duratec I4 engine is available to Fiesta drivers looking for a more powerful engine. The engine’s aluminum block is fitted with cast iron liners and an aluminum cylinder head, making it both rigid and lightweight.
Fully independent variable camshaft timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts is key to both power and fuel efficiency. This engine feature, Twin independent – Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) enables the 1.6 engine to produce 88kW of power at 6 000rpm.
Torque is equally impressive: the 1.6 Duratec I4 features a broad torque curve peaking at 152Nm at 4 300rpm. PowerShift provides exceptional fuel economy and acceleration for all driving conditions.
The durable 1.4 engine is constructed with a cast aluminum block and aluminum cylinder head, it features four-valve technology with port fuel injection. The engine produces 70kW of power at 5 650rpm and 128Nm of torque at 4 200rpm.
The 1.6 TDCi model produces 66kW @ 4000rpm and 212Nm @ 1750rpm, while using only 4.5ℓ/100km on the NEDC combined cycle.
The Fiesta is available with a choice of either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission on both four and five-door models.
Performance
The Fiesta lives up to its sporty reputation. Among the improvements is a new mapped accelerator pedal response calibration. The electronic throttle has been tuned to respond differently depending on how much pressure is applied. Aggressive acceleration generates a sharper, sportier response while gentle pressure elicits a smooth feeling.
The Fiesta’s design reflects the careful packaging of powertrain components in the engine compartment. Extensive computer-aided design work was conducted to position the engine, hoses, cables and other components into a tight space while protecting them from heat and harmful vibrations to ensure optimal crashworthiness.
