Monaco, 5 May 2025 – This past weekend, Maserati ignited the engines of history as it began the countdown to its centennial celebrations in motorsport at the Monaco E-Prix. Hosted on the 3rd and 4th of May in the legendary Principality, the double-header rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship set the stage for Maserati’s momentous commemoration of a century in racing.
The excitement in Monte Carlo was palpable as the iconic Maserati brand, which has been synonymous with racing excellence since 1926, took a step forward in its rich legacy of innovation and triumph. A key part of the festivities was the Maserati Parade—a dazzling showcase of the brand’s most legendary racing machines—symbolizing both its storied past and its dynamic present.
A Century of Racing Excellence
Maserati’s racing heritage began in 1926, when the Tipo 26 made its groundbreaking debut in the Targa Florio. This was the first car ever to feature the now-iconic Trident logo on its bonnet, and it achieved immediate success, winning its class in the event with Alfieri Maserati himself behind the wheel. This victory marked the dawn of Maserati’s long and illustrious motorsport journey, one that has been defined by technological innovation, iconic victories, and countless milestones. Today, with the Monaco E-Prix as its starting point, Maserati’s centenary celebrations are in full swing as it prepares for the grand centennial next year.

The Maserati Parade: A Legacy on Display
The Monaco circuit, renowned for its precision-demanding corners and unparalleled glamour, was the perfect backdrop for Maserati’s Parade of Champions. The procession began with the legendary Maserati 250 F, a Formula 1 icon that secured two victories in Monaco—first with Stirling Moss in 1956 and then again in 1957 with the great Juan Manuel Fangio at the wheel. This historic car, along with others in the parade, highlighted Maserati’s long-standing connection to the world’s most prestigious races.
The spotlight also shone on the Maserati MC12, a track-honed powerhouse that has etched its own chapter of triumphs, securing 22 race victories and multiple FIA GT titles between 2004 and 2010, including three wins at the 24 Hours of Spa. The MC12’s inclusion in the parade was a nod to Maserati’s dominance in endurance racing, further cementing its status as a force to be reckoned with.
However, Maserati’s commitment to the future of racing was equally evident. The MC20, a stunning road-going supercar, showcased the brand’s return to racing in the modern era. With its Nettuno V6 engine, derived from Formula 1 technology, and its track-oriented successor, the Maserati GT2, which has been on a winning streak in the GT2 European Series, Maserati’s racing future is as bright as its past.
The Icons of Today and Tomorrow
Rounding out the parade were two spectacular machines that demonstrate Maserati’s ongoing innovation and performance in the electric era. The MCXtrema, a track-focused “beast” powered by a 740-horsepower Nettuno twin-turbo V6, symbolized the cutting-edge power and precision that define Maserati’s performance DNA. The Tipo Folgore single-seater, representing the brand’s ambitious push into electric racing, took center stage alongside the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, a 100% electric roadster that embodies Maserati’s commitment to sustainable, high-performance driving.
The GranCabrio Folgore’s 800V technology and cutting-edge solutions derived from Formula E engineering represent the perfect intersection of Maserati’s heritage and future, seamlessly blending luxury with environmental responsibility.
A Testament to Maserati’s Legacy
Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse, expressed the deep emotional connection the brand has with its racing roots: “The track is our home. It all began for us in racing and in just under a year we will reach the major milestone of a century of racing history. It is extraordinary to revive the competitive spirit of our DNA today on the roads of the most iconic and famous street circuit in the world. Seeing our cars parade in Monaco is therefore a unique emotion! These corners have made motorsport history and we have triumphed in Formula 1 here three times. Nino Farina in 1948, Sir Stirling Moss in 1956 and Juan Manuel Fangio in 1957: we hope to add more successes to this special trophy haul soon.”
As Maserati steps into its next chapter, the brand’s racing legacy is far from a thing of the past. With a remarkable blend of tradition and innovation, Maserati continues to push boundaries, both on the track and on the road. The Monaco E-Prix weekend was more than just a race; it was a spectacular preview of the brand’s century-long journey—a journey that shows no signs of slowing down.
The race for the century has begun, and Maserati’s story is only getting faster.
