London, 26 November 2025 – Kia has continued its remarkable streak at the BBC TopGear.com Awards, with the all-electric Kia PV5 Passenger named ‘Family Car of the Year’ during a ceremony held last night at White City House, London. This marks the fifth consecutive year Kia has been recognised by the publication, following accolades for the EV6 (2022), EV9 (2023), and EV3 (2024).
The PV5 Passenger is Kia’s first all-electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) under its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy. BBC TopGear Magazine praised it as the perfect family vehicle, blending versatility, design, value, and capability in a package that suits both private and commercial users.
Jack Scarlett, contributor at BBC TopGear Magazine, said:
“The PV5 matches the VW ID.Buzz for design—albeit future-fresh, not retro-cool—edges it for efficiency, and smashes it on price. That last one can’t be overstated. It’s joyous to drive, absolutely massive, ride and refinement are plush, and crucially, it’s got the feelgood factor we fawned over in the Buzz.”
Practicality Meets Affordability
The PV5 Passenger starts at £32,995, making it the most affordable vehicle in its class. Families can choose between two battery options: a Standard Range 51.5kWh pack offering up to 183 miles, or a Long Range 71.2kWh pack delivering up to 256 miles on a single charge.
Inside, the PV5 prioritises comfort and convenience, with spacious seating, a 12.9-inch central navigation screen, strategically placed storage compartments, and a host of sustainable materials. Its flexible design makes it suitable not only for daily family life but also for commercial applications such as ride-hailing or small business transport.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, said:
“We’re very excited about the PV5 Passenger and pleased to see it recognised for its qualities once again, as we start customer deliveries in the UK. Thanks to its practicality, price, and size, we expect this car to be a hit with families, as well as business customers. This accolade confirms that the PV5 Passenger is an important part of our new PBV business, offering a familiar branch to our existing passenger car customers into our new range of award-winning and dedicated electric vehicles.”

A Winning Track Record
The PV5 Passenger’s awards haul doesn’t stop here. Earlier this year, it was named 2026 International Van of the Year, and also took home the Van of the Year at the 2026 Parkers Van and Pickup Awards and The Sun Van of the Year at the News UK Awards. Its cargo counterpart, the PV5 Cargo, entered the Guinness World Records™ in October 2025 by travelling 430.84 miles (693.38km)—the greatest distance by a light-duty battery-powered electric van with maximum payload on a single charge.
Looking Ahead
The PV5 Passenger and Cargo are available now from Kia’s new network of PBV Centres, with deliveries expected by year-end. Future models, the PV7 and PV9, are scheduled for release in 2027 and 2029, further expanding Kia’s award-winning PBV range.
With its winning combination of design, practicality, and value, the Kia PV5 Passenger sets a new benchmark for family-focused electric vehicles, cementing Kia’s reputation for innovation in the rapidly evolving EV market.
