Kia has posted record UK sales for the month of June as yet more customers discovered the Korean brand’s range of design-led, quality vehicles. In June Kia Motors (UK) Limited achieved record sales of 5,971 sales in the month – a market share of 3.15 per cent – taking sales for the year to date to 33,478 and a market share of 3.17 per cent.
Sales for the month of June were up 17 per cent compared to June 2011 whilst year to date sales have grown by 22.7 per cent (up from 27,281 vehicles) versus the same period last year.
Commenting on the results, Michael Cole, Managing Director of Kia Motors (UK) Limited said: “The Kia brand has grown quickly and strongly. In the first six months of this year we’ve sold more cars, here in the UK, than we did in the whole of 2008 – before the recession and Scrappage scheme began. Progress like this is a great testament to the appeal of our brand, new vehicles and dealer network.
“With the recently launched New cee’d, and with the New cee’d SW due here in the Autumn, there is still plenty more to come from Kia in 2012.
“Despite challenging market conditions, we are predicting UK sales of around 65,000 vehicles this year – around 15 per cent up on our previous record year,” added Cole.
