Kia UK Sets New Record with Best-Ever Sales in First Half of 2024

Kia UK Limited has started 2024 on an exceptionally high note, achieving its highest first-half sales in the brand’s history. Continuing the momentum from 2023, Kia has registered an impressive 60,366 new cars in the UK within the first six months of the year, securing a market share of 6.0%.

The brand’s strong performance can be attributed to its competitive range of compact SUVs, including the Sportage, Niro, and XCeed. Together, these models accounted for 39,190 sales, capturing a 14.3% segment share year-to-date (YTD) and reinforcing Kia’s position as the top-selling brand in the UK’s highly coveted C-SUV segment.

The Kia Sportage emerged as a standout model, finishing June as the best-selling new car in the UK. With 24,239 units sold YTD, the Sportage ranks as the second best-selling car of the year, showcasing its enduring popularity.

June itself was a milestone month for Kia, with the brand registering over 10,000 new cars (10,321), marking its best-ever June performance. This achievement follows a series of record-breaking months in 2024, including a strong first quarter where Kia was the fourth best-selling brand in the UK and the second best-selling brand for electrified vehicles.

Globally, the Sportage continued to be a favorite, with Kia posting global sales of 267,536 units, led by this family SUV. In January, the Sportage also started the year strong as the best-selling model in the UK.

In April, following a record-breaking first quarter, Kia celebrated its 1.5 millionth sale in the UK—a significant milestone in the brand’s 20-year UK history. The historic sale was marked by an EV6 ‘GT-Line S’ in Yacht Blue.

Simon Hetherington, Commercial Director at Kia UK Limited, commented on the brand’s remarkable achievements: “Completing an incredible number of record-breaking milestones in the first half of the year is hugely significant and propels us into Q3 with strong momentum. A landmark February, April, June, Q1, Q2, and first half overall, tells an impressive success story. This success fills the brand and our national dealer partners with even more confidence for the future. With the Sportage cementing its position as the UK’s favorite car last month, and sustained sales of Kia’s wide range of electrified and fully electric vehicles, we are certain that our growth will continue.”

Looking ahead, Kia is set to introduce another exciting electric vehicle to the UK market in the second half of 2024. The Kia EV3, arriving in Q4 2024, is the latest model in the brand’s ambitious EV strategy. Offering a best-in-class range of up to 372 miles and exceptional space, the EV3’s pricing and specifications will be revealed in Q3 this year.
