In a market where the phrase “value for money” is often used as a catchphrase, the Jetour T1 proves that the term can be more than just marketing speak. Launched recently in South Africa, this bold, tech-rich SUV has already made waves internationally, with strong demand in China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines. In fact, within the first three months of 2025, more than 17 900 units of the T1 were sold in China alone.

Critical acclaim has been swift. Reviews highlight the T1 as a “phenomenally value-for-money car with real capability,” praising its combination of bold design, feature-rich interior, and accessible pricing. The accolades extend to design recognition: in 2024, the Jetour T1 earned the prestigious Red Dot Design Concept Award. The award celebrates its distinctive boxy silhouette, which blends classic off-road cues with clean, contemporary lines, and an interior that balances rugged appeal with comfort—making it equally suited for city streets and outdoor adventures.

“The Jetour T1, priced from R514 900, is quickly establishing itself as a strong value-for-money contender in the SUV segment,” says Jetour Vice President Nic Campbell. “As part of the newly launched T-Series, the T1 sets a new standard by combining style, performance, and comfort in a thoughtfully designed, value-packed package.”

Feature-Rich and Tech-Savvy

One of the T1’s standout traits is its extensive list of features, often found in SUVs priced significantly higher. Every model comes with a 540° panoramic camera system, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, LED lighting, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, roof racks, and privacy glass. Engine options include a 1.5TD 125kW or a 2.0TD 180kW unit, both mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensuring smooth and responsive performance.

The higher-spec 2.0TD 4-wheel drive Xplora and Odyssey models further elevate the offering with an XWD intelligent 4-wheel drive system, high ground clearance, and eight driving modes including Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and X-mode. Interior appointments impress too, with a 15.6” infotainment display, dual-layer soundproof glass, ergonomic seating, flexible storage solutions, and in the Odyssey, a premium Sony 9-speaker surround sound system.

Local buyers also benefit from a comprehensive after-sales package, including a seven-year/200 000 km warranty, seven-year/75 000 km service plan, and a 10-year/1 000 000 km engine warranty for the first owner.

Jetour T1 Redefines Value-for-Money in South Africa’s SUV Market

Competitive Pricing Across Four Models

In South Africa, the T1 range starts with the 1.5TD 2-wheel drive Edge at R514 900, followed by the 1.5TD 2-wheel drive Aspire at R544 900. The 2.0TD 4-wheel drive Xplora retails for R594 900, while the top-of-the-range 2.0TD 4-wheel drive Odyssey is priced at R634 900.

Strong Sales Momentum

December 2025 marked Jetour South Africa’s strongest monthly sales to date, with 1 371 vehicles sold. This achievement placed the brand among the country’s top 10 best-selling car brands for the month, driven largely by the success of the T1 alongside the T2.

A Smart Choice in a Growing Segment

With its distinctive design, robust feature set, and compelling pricing, the Jetour T1 offers South African buyers a practical, cost-effective, and stylish option in the SUV segment. As SUVs and crossovers continue to dominate new vehicle sales—accounting for over half of the market in recent years—the T1 stands out as a strong contender that combines everyday practicality with off-road capability, proving that value for money can indeed mean more than just a tagline.
