In a significant educational boost, ISUZU Foundation has allocated R118,200 to renovate a neglected area at Grayville Primary School in Johannesburg, turning it into a secure and engaging environment for Grade R students. The newly revamped space, once littered with weeds and debris, now serves as a vibrant zone for playful learning activities.

Grayville Primary School, a state-funded entity, caters to 1,317 learners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The school often faces financial challenges, depending heavily on fundraisers and external aid to maintain operations.

Marcia Mayaba, ISUZU Department Executive Dealer and Business Development, expressed pride in the initiative, noting, “ISUZU and its Dealer Network are committed to making a significant difference in education and community projects.” She credited NMI ISUZU, a Johannesburg dealership, for playing a crucial role in realizing this project, underscoring the importance of ISUZU dealerships in community upliftment.

Vivek Singh, Dealer Principal at NMI ISUZU, commented on the collaboration, “Working with ISUZU Foundation enables us to enhance our community support and address critical needs, improving the lives of our young people.”

Despite economic hurdles, Grayville Primary School is committed to sustaining vital services, including a self-funded meal program that supports 270 needy children, with the help of teachers, students, and the community.

“The creation of this learning environment goes beyond academic achievement. It’s about establishing a safe and nurturing space for our students,” said Afeera Khan, the school’s principal. She lauded the ISUZU Foundation’s paving project for not just upgrading the school’s infrastructure but also for fostering the comprehensive development of the students.

ISUZU Foundation continues to dedicate efforts towards enriching educational opportunities and strengthening communities throughout Africa.
