East London, 30 April 2024 – The ISUZU Foundation has made significant strides in improving educational facilities at the kwaKhanya Daycare Early Childhood Development Centre in Scenery Park Township, East London. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to foster community development and improve education within ISUZU’s operational areas.

The kwaKhanya Daycare Centre, which caters to 25 young children aged 0-5 years and is staffed by three dedicated teachers and a principal, previously faced challenges with its infrastructure, particularly during inclement weather. Principal Yoliswa Bulana praised the ISUZU Foundation’s contribution, saying, “The previous classroom conditions greatly compromised our ability to provide a secure and effective learning environment. We are immensely grateful for the ISUZU Foundation’s sustainable support.”

Through the Foundation’s efforts, a new prefabricated classroom has been installed, complete with modern amenities to enhance the educational experience for the children. The project also included the construction of new toilet facilities, improving sanitation and promoting a hygienic learning environment.

Marcia Mayaba, ISUZU’s Executive Dealer and Business Development Officer, expressed her enthusiasm about the project’s impact: “Seeing the educational transformation at kwaKhanya Daycare Centre is truly fulfilling. Education is fundamental to community prosperity, and our commitment to enriching educational environments reflects our dedication to instigating positive community change.”

The project’s completion was celebrated at a handover ceremony attended by ISUZU Foundation representatives, community leaders, educators, and parents, highlighting the collaborative effort to promote educational excellence and comprehensive development. Richard Ferrant, Chief Operating Officer of Meyers Motor Group, highlighted their longstanding involvement and commitment to educational projects that uplift communities and enhance dignity for both teachers and learners.

The ISUZU Foundation extended its thanks to all the project partners, volunteers, and supporters whose unwavering dedication made this initiative successful. The Foundation remains committed to leading impactful projects and empowering communities for future generations.
