Isuzu Foundation Bolsters Support For Durbans Youth With Significant Donation

Durban, 03 June 2024 – The ISUZU Foundation, in collaboration with ISUZU Motors South Africa and its Dealer Network, has proudly donated R131,900 to Ironman4theKidz, the official charity partner of the IRONMAN. This donation will benefit four vital charities in Durban.

The funds, raised through entries for the ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Durban event held over the weekend, will be distributed among Bobbi Bear, Likhona iThemba, Durban Children and Youth Centre, and the Daily News Milk Fund. These organizations provide crucial support to vulnerable children in Durban and its surrounding areas.

Bobbi Bear, located in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban, is dedicated to aiding children who have suffered sexual abuse. Their mission is to “rescue, represent, and reintegrate sexually abused children, minimize their risk of HIV/AIDS, and guide them towards wholeness.” The organization achieves this through trained caregivers who offer a secure environment for the children.

Likhon’iThemba offers a safe haven for children awaiting adoption or reunification, while the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre cares for orphans and neglected children. The Daily News Milk and Welfare Fund focuses on feeding underprivileged children at creches and pre-schools across KwaZulu-Natal by providing milk, milk powder, and high-energy porridge to vetted organizations.

“As the ISUZU Foundation, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities where we operate,” says Alastair Hodgson, ISUZU’s Department Executive for Business Enablement. “Our partnership with Ironman4theKidz allows us to support organizations that aid vulnerable members of our society and drive positive change within communities.”

This recent handover follows the R158,000 raised during the prestigious ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa African Championship and ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 in Gqeberha in April 2024. Those funds were earmarked for providing educational and nutritional support to disadvantaged children in Nelson Mandela Bay.

“Through our partnership with Ironman4theKidz, we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being and development of children and youth in Durban,” Hodgson adds. “Our combined efforts aim to provide essential resources and support, helping children thrive and demonstrating our ongoing dedication to making a difference in the region.”

The ISUZU Foundation has a rich history of supporting community-focused projects, having granted over R16 million to 80 projects since 2010. This partnership with Ironman4theKidz also aligns with ISUZU’s commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing education, poverty alleviation, hunger relief, and the creation of sustainable environments.
