Pretoria – 27 May 2011 – Team Ford Racing will face their toughest challenge yet as they head to Phakisa Freeway in Welkom for the fourth round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship taking place on 4 June 2011.

In addition to two back to back sprint races, Team Ford Racing’s Gary Formato and Shaun Duminy will also face a two hour endurance race. The 120 minute feature race will test the drivers’ stamina, the team’s ability to strategise and the reliability of the Ford Focus ST. To add even more excitement to the mix, there will be three compulsory pit stops and each car has to have two drivers throughout the race.

“We have given a lot of thought to our choice of second drivers and have selected two very talented individuals who we believe will strengthen our pursuit of victory. These drivers are Iain Pepper, former Production Car Champion and Graham Donker, who currently leads the VW Cup championship,” announced Duminy.

The team has a good history at the 4.2 km circuit, with Formato achieving two victories and a second place finish there last year.

“I am looking forward to the Welkom event and think that we will be strong there. We have a good set-up for the track and I am feeling confident of a strong showing. The endurance race is going to require a completely different driving style, but with great cars at our disposal, I believe we will be successful,” commented Formato.

The sprint races will take place at lunchtime on Saturday 4 June, with the endurance race starting at 16:00 on the same day.
