Hyundai N Targets Fourth Tcr Class Win At Nurburgring 24 Hours

NÜRBURG/SEOUL, May 31, 2024 – Hyundai N is gearing up for a formidable challenge at the Nürburgring 24 Hours (N24), aiming for an unprecedented fourth consecutive TCR class victory. The defending champions are fielding an international roster of top-tier drivers from Europe, North America, and China, underscoring Hyundai N’s global motorsport prowess.

In a spectacular showcase, Hyundai N also unveiled the IONIQ 5 N TA (Time Attack) Spec variant, a cutting-edge electric vehicle designed for the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). This special edition model highlights Hyundai’s commitment to innovation and performance, further emphasized by its collaboration with the renowned Gran Turismo video game franchise.

“We are excited to return to the Nürburgring 24 Hours, bringing together a diverse group of drivers that reflects the global growth of our motorsport program,” stated Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company. “Our investment in the future of motorsport is evident with our first electric Pikes Peak racer and our ongoing collaboration with Gran Turismo. Motorsport passion remains at the heart of Hyundai N as we drive forward into the future.”

Hyundai N’s TCR Team: Aiming for Another Win

Returning to the treacherous Nürburgring Nordschleife, Hyundai N will field three ELANTRA N TCR cars, each poised for a shot at victory. The #830 car, driven by Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng, and Manuel Lauck, returns after clinching TCR-class victories in 2022 and 2023. The Bryan Herta Autosport team, supported by Hyundai Motor America, will also compete with the #831 car, featuring drivers Mason Filippi, Harry Gottsacker, Mark Wilkins, and Bryson Morris. Meanwhile, the #832 car, driven by TCR China stars Martin (Hongwei) Cao, Rainey He, Andy Yan, and Zhang Zhen Dong, adds an extra layer of competition.

Additionally, Hyundai N’s lineup includes the Hyundai Driving Experience i30 Fastback N, competing in the VT2 Front-Wheel-Drive class. Last year, this team secured a dominant class victory by nine laps, despite a late technical issue. The 2024 crew features returning champions Marcus Willhardt and Michael Bohrer, along with journalist-racer Jens Dralle and Korean Junior driver Gyumin Kim, who has already demonstrated his talent this season.

IONIQ 5 N TA Spec: Pioneering Electric Performance
