Hyundai Motor Company is proud to continue its role as the primary supporter of the Korean Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, marking a decade of dedication since 2015. This year, the company celebrates its involvement in five consecutive exhibitions, reinforcing its commitment to fostering an artistic ecosystem and deepening global cultural engagement.
DooEun Choi, Art Director of Hyundai Motor Company, shared, “Our ongoing support for the Korean Pavilion underscores our commitment to the arts, fostering creativity, and connecting with audiences worldwide. We are thrilled to enhance our partnership during this pivotal 30th anniversary of the Korean Pavilion.”
This year’s highlight at the Pavilion is KOO JEONG A’s “ODORAMA CITIES,” an exhibition open from April 20 to November 24, 2024, in Venice, Italy. Curated by Seolhui Lee and Jacob Fabricius, the display invites visitors to explore scent-driven spatial experiences, enhancing memories and perceptions through unique olfactory installations.

KOO JEONG A employs immaterial and levitational themes to enrich spaces, combining personal experiences with expansive, immersive installations. The artist has created a scent portrait of the Korean Peninsula, deriving from global public contributions to the “What is your scent memory of Korea?” initiative in summer 2023. The collected scent memories, encapsulated by 16 perfumers into 17 distinct aromas, form the core of the Pavilion’s sensory journey.
Hyundai’s support extends beyond the exhibition to include a public program, “Hyundai Art Node at the Korean Pavilion,” set to launch in late August 2024. This initiative aims to maximize the Pavilion’s potential and enhance visitor engagement.
Additionally, Hyundai supports “Every Island is a Mountain,” an exhibition by Arts Council Korea celebrating the Korean Pavilion’s 30-year journey. Featuring works by 36 artists and collectives, the exhibition runs from April 19 to September 8 at Palazzo Malta – Ordine di Malta in Venice, exploring the interconnectedness of art, time, and space.
The opening of this landmark exhibition was commemorated with ‘Hyundai Night in celebration of Korean Art’ on April 18, heralding a series of engaging art displays that bridge artistic expressions and cultural narratives at a global scale.
