Hagerty has announced a strategic partnership with SUSTAIN fuels, debuting at the esteemed 2024 Hagerty Hill Climb event on May 11th at Shelsley Walsh, Oxfordshire. This collaboration underscores a shared dedication to the preservation and environmentally conscious operation of classic vehicles.
Since its inception in 2021, SUSTAIN has been committed to safeguarding the heritage of classic cars. The SUSTAIN Classic range, crafted by fuel specialist Coryton, is specifically designed to accommodate the unique demands of vintage car engines. This biofuel blend, enriched with advanced additives and sustainable biomass derived from agricultural waste like straw, offers a greener alternative by recycling carbon already present in the atmosphere instead of unlocking new CO2 from fossil fuels.
The SUSTAIN Classic fuel is not only environmentally beneficial but also versatile, safe for use in any vehicle compatible with standard pump fuel, and can be mixed with existing petrol in the tank without issues.

The partnership will be featured prominently at three major 2024 Hagerty events: the Hagerty Hill Climb, the Festival of the Unexceptional in July, and the RADwood UK event in September. These occasions will provide classic car enthusiasts opportunities to test the fuel, engage with experts, and explore the environmental advantages of using sustainable fuels in their vehicles.
Mark Roper, Managing Director for Hagerty International, highlighted the initiative’s aim to assist classic car owners in adopting more eco-friendly practices without compromising vehicle performance. He emphasized the opportunity for attendees to experience SUSTAIN Classic fuel firsthand and address any queries related to sustainable fuel use with experts.
David Richardson, Business Development Director at Coryton, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting the growing public interest in sustainable fuel technologies, especially among vintage vehicle owners. He anticipates that the upcoming events will be an excellent platform to educate and engage with the classic car community about the benefits and science of sustainable fuels.
